SharkWerks rides again.. this time a 997 GT2RS
Hah ready and tailor-made for me
Well except for that it doesn't have Magnesium wheels but a certain company

This lovely white 997 GT2RSNumber 267 to be precise:
Off with those factory rear links:
......
There is one difference with the factory GT2RS (and 4.0 RS) rear lower link. The ends are indeed solid although the excentric bolt is still there to turn its ugly bolt head when you don't want it. So on with the RSS Bump steer kit and lock out plates:

Alex, thanks for another very interesting and informative thread, as always.
1. So the GT2 RS indeed uses heim joint/solid rod end bearing in its rear toe control arm? Is this towards the end that connects to the wheel/wheel carriage?
2. Any other link uses heim joint?
They've mentioned this (heim joint in GT2 RS) but it has not been clear until now which arm this joint is in. TIA.

Sharky, awesome car and great build, thanks for walking us through it. But I couldn't help but feel like it was missing something. I couldn't put my finger on it until now. I finally realized what's missing...Great White seems to fit well lol
Hi Alex - this is first time that any road modern 911 uses heim joint in their links!
Please clarify: I don't know if I misunderstood something but it seems like from your picture the GT2 RS's rear toe control arm uses neoprene and not rod end bearing/heim joint as you've mentioned?
Pics of the GT2 RS versus RSS toe link below below. Where the red arrow points, doesn't it look like neoprene? Did I miss something or is it not the right picture? Thanks again for the informative thread.

Underneath it's always solid on the GT3/GT2s.
Porsche mentioned GT2 RS has "extra" heim joint over normal GT2 IIRC - I am trying to learn which one it is, just out of curiosity.
Thank you!
Hah you know a lot mate!
As far as these arms go they're better than the factory 911s/TT ones but I'd still rather use these so that the toe angle doesn't change:

For others reading this: as mentioned in my Bilstein thread, one of the main approaches to suspension mod is to replace factory neorprene/rubber suspension links with links having solid joints. Of all the links in the Turbo, rear toe link is quite unique in that it seems to receive near universal recommendation for replacement from all tuners I've spoken to. Interesting thing is I know this recommendation for a long time but has been hesitant, and now lo and behold, GT2RS appears with all solid rear toe links! (GT2/GT3 don't have it.) The Turbo's rear end tends to have er "unwanted movements"
in the rear, and solid joint rear toe link will help. The GT2RS is the first modern 911 ever that has solid links on both ends of rear toe link; it was mentioned during development of GT2RS by Porsche engineers, who seemed cagey in naming where this solid joint is. I was resigned to not knowing the secret until Alex (wonderfully) mentioned it here on this thread.
