We used that on a friend's 997 Turbo and it worked. Also, as someone mentioned go with the Optima batteries.

Good luck and let us know how it gets resolved (if not already).

Cheers.
On my car the emergency release is on the driver's side. Pretty easy to get to.

I also pushed my red terminal too far in on the fuse box once... should only take 5 minutes to unscrew it and push it back out from behind.

Did you say the key is stuck in the ignition? On my turbo, the ignition broke once. It was almost as if the spring mechanism inside the ignition had popped off the key and was operating backwards. The key would not come out of the ignition and was springing clockwise.

Somehow that caused the battery to die and it would not jump start period. My car was towed on a flatbed to the dealer and was repaired under my extended easycare warranty. It needed a new battery and new ignition switch.

I was told that broken ignition switch assemblies are relatively common.

There are also 5 amp trickle chargers that work a lot faster if in fact you do not have the same issue I experienced.

Hey Guys, I need your help here...

I was able to get the key released from the Ignition using the fuse box method but the hood release button on the Key Fob isn't working, even after changing the battery in the Key Fob.

On a side note, few days ago my hood release latch, besides the car seat quit working so I am not sure if it's all related or not?

Any way, I was able to take the driver side wheel liner off but unlike the loop type cable in the picture above, my 997.1 TT has the wire/cable(?) sticking out with a lose end and probably from the same exact location.

Is that it and is that what I pull?

Thanks

Yes this is it. Just use long nose pliers to grab the end.

Well I was able to release the hood but not by pulling the cable. Initially I tried doing the fuse box but the key wasn't working.

What I didn't realize was, the jumper cable wasn't making contact with the fuse.

So I went back, checked every thing once again and hooked up the cables and pushed the button on the key and viola.

Thanks every one.

I can now drive the car tomorrow vs having to figure out how to get it towed to the dealer

Stuey is infamous around these parts
I just had this happen to me with my 2006 997.1, so I read up here and got enough charge through the fuse box to open the trunk with the manual lever on the door sill, using my hand-held battery jumper (which is slightly smaller than my iPhone 6+, amazing right?).

I pulled the battery and took it to Advance, where I purchased it two years ago (with a 3 year warranty). So I will either have a fully charged battery or a new replacement.

Sure was nice to be able to read exactly what to do, with pictures.

Thanks, 6SpeedOnline posters!
