Dude, I now have 4 dedicated track cars and I still won't sell the turbo. But that's me...a lot of guys go one way or the other...personally I can separate the two...I love cars...whether that be at the track or going for a quick ride to the store. I'll never be without fun in my cars!

You will be in your turbo more often than at the track.

Just my 2 cents...

GT2RS?! Geez, you guys are going to be disappointed LOL. There is a budget - A cayman was too pricey to build, no way a GT2RS would work! Besides, one of the main reasons in getting a purpose built car is to not destroy a beautiful street car.

If you want, my 2004 boxster S track car (F class) has shown a wall some love...you could buy it and build from there...motor, trans, interior parts (seats, belts, smarty cam, AIM dash, etc.) are all fine...2 brand new axles, brand new front brake calipers and pads, etc. Just needs a new chassis...which you can get pretty cheap...PM me if you are interested.

I was planning to fix it but I have other cars to keep me busy.

I'd be interested in hearing it's options and what you'd take for it. Really looking for a garage queen for Proto to mod but what the heck.

Chris my bet is it's a Lotus Elise with the supercharged 4 cyl engine. Very popular cars for the track and much cheaper to run than any turbo or GT3 as a track car. If you can afford to hold the turbo i'd hold it. You're still gonna need a car that'l give you a buz off the track. But then again with your current turbo ageing somewhat i also know that there is a time to own a car and a time to sell it. So, if you've reached that time then now's really the best time to get out of it. You can always just wait about for another later model used option or wait for the new 991tt and see how you feel then. 12/18 months isn't a hell of along time to sit on the fence and that new turbo is surely going to be a beauty and by that time there will be a lot of cheap turbos floating around. I also know what you mean by destroying a good street car. As much fun as a turbo is there are simply better cars for the track.

Chris, keep the car! If you decide not to, try to sell it on your own. The used car market (at least on the West Coast) for these type of cars is really strong now. The savings compared to buying new are significant. Would you be thinking about a 991 CS by any chance and then trade up to a 991 Turbo in a few years?

Sold it!! Lots of emotions right now. Really sad to see it go, but I think it was the right thing to do. Had been thinking of selling it but got a call today and the new owner showed up with a check.

Just had a very long discussion with Aaron Povoldeo, pro driver and my coach, going over our plan for this year. I really think i'll be doing enough track days this year that I won't miss the turbo on the street that much. At least this was my experience in the fall after doing some track days in a relatively short period of time. Driving the turbo on these horrendous roads and traffic wasn't nearly as much fun as being on the track.

worst case, I buy another street car. focus now is getting my new toy across the country and figuring out a new tow vehicle - which needs to double as my wife's DD.

thinking ML350 blutec, VW Touareg TDI, or Jeep GC. The jeep actually looks pretty nice. 7,400 lbs capacity, bigger alternator, tranny cooler, sway control , etc. I was also thinking MB GL but she doesn't want something that big.

Can't believe it's gone

Hi Chris - Would you mind PM-ing me what it was bought for ($$). (and what mods you had)

I am planning to buy a 996TT mid this year...wanted to see if I might be close enough to a higher mileage '07 Turbo. <I cannot send a PM due to my newb status>
Thank you!
Paul
