2011 GT2RS vs. 2010 458 Italia
No way, way. 997gt2rs will ram 458's pipes. Ferraris are big on paper numbers, in real world 458 on a straight line doesn't stand a chance. I was a passenger in a 997gt2rs with 458 in front giving it all, howling like crazy. GT2 driver anything above 120mph had to back off the gas pedal or we would ram the 458.
Story is always the same, Ferraris scream but turbo's kick them in the pants. Torque is torque!

Recently I have been considering trading in my 2 for a 458 or mclaren. Do not blast me it is very pre-mature, just considering, wife will castrate if I do.
Every video or article I read says the 458 is so much better than the mclaren even though the mclaren wins on paper.
My 2 is modded to over 630hp, has a race clutch similar to the 2RS, and has a better suspension setup than a 2RS. It is badass and a thrill to drive, never boring. It also does not give me the unwanted attention of the 458 and I feel safe parking it most places. But the instant throttle response of an NA car can never be duplicated with a turbo, you can not get that added car control by feathering or adjusting throttle input in the middle of a turn or a drift. That it what I liked about the 3RS over my 2 when I drove it. So if the 458 is like the 3RS but much faster, then **** me!
I would not consider the TTS as an option here, there has been numerous threads of people trading in the turbo's for a GT3 because of the lack of driver involvment and getting bored. There has been others swinging the other way, but the OP said he is bored with his TT so a TTS will not quench his desires.
Not just on paper, there have been videos on youtube of the 458 vs mclaren vs the TTS. The TTS is hardly ahead of the 458 then at around 100mph the 458 starts walking away. The TTS is undeniably faster than a GT2RS in a straight line. At least 3 different mags say the 60mph and 100mph times of the 458 are at a minimum .3seconds faster than a GT2RS. So yes, maybe the Ferrarai people are cheating and moddifying their press cars, but the 458 is quite epic.

And 10 seconds quicker on the ring.
And as far as tts goes also no contest:

I think zzzspeed nailed it when he stated that I'm just bored with my TT. There is no arguing performance statistics as all of these cars have similar performance envelopes. I think that pointing out 0 to 186 or Nordeschleife times for 99.9% of us are just useless. I mean with all due respect who among us has hit 300 km/186 mph in a drag race on a public road ? Not me and nobody that I know. I also don't think that any of these cars can be made more exciting in a transformational sense, by just adding a flash/tune. I can spend $50K and give my car 900 or even 1000 hp but that is not the issue. Even if I had a 1000 hp TT so what. The 458 is still 10 times more exciting in my humble opinion. Have you ever been the driver of a 458 when it is barking through the gears with the trees reverberating with the scream of the engine ? That is what its all about. Plus, with all due respect, on a normal road the 458 is way easier to drive fast than a GT2RS. The issue is being excited to get into my car when I go out to buy a quart of milk or just drive to my firm (a brief 15 min. drive each day).
Another option is to plunk down $235K on a 2012 458 coupe that has zero options (no electric seats, no GPS, no carbon, no ceramic brakes, no shields, no nothing). I stripped out new 458 could be good b/c Ferrari now has a complimentary 7 year maintenance program. That means some of the maintenance costs are now covered and that has to save a few bucks every year. I'm sure that a stripped out black on black 458 could be a great daily driver. I made contact with a dealer who might be able to get me a new coupe in as little as 8 months.

I don't even see how this is close. 458 all the way. You're bored with the 997, why buy a slightly better variant of that - same basic styling. Go for something that stirs your soul - sounds like that is the 458 for you. You definitely will not be disappointed and it will hold its value reasonably well over the next 2-3 years.
After almost 5 years I'm crazy bored with my daily driver 07TT Tip and miss my 03 6speed X50. Have realistic opportunity to obtain a new 2011 GT2RS with just delivery miles (asking $229K) or a used 2010 458 Italia with approx. 10K plus miles on her but mint (asking $245K). All the magazine reviews I have seen basically say that the GT2RS is a better investment, but just can't seem to better the 458 on the track. I'm not looking for a track car or I'd buy a used Cup car and trailer her to DRE's. rather I'm looking for a daily driver that I will realistically have for 5 years and put approx. 5-7K miles on her per year. I know that I'm essentially killing the cars value by driving that many miles but I just don't care. I put approx. 10K miles per year on my 997TT tip but with the GT2RS and 458 I'd probably not drive them in the snow/rough weather and stick to my wrangler. As a daily driver is the GT2RS an impossible car ? Is the used 458 a no-brainer ? While I don't care about the investment loss from driving alot of miles I do want some excitement back in my daily drive. I was going to get a 2012 TTS but cancelled the order as the car just doesn't give me the excitement factor I'm looking for. I'd appreciate any suggestions from those that actually own a GT2RS/458. Thanks in advance and sorry for the long post.

Better than Ferrari imho... production numbers; 500 for GT2RS and probably about 8,000 for Ferrari 458 by the time all is said and done - no brainer!
Theoretically the GT2RS will hold a better resale due to very limited production figures, but when she has 50K miles on her after 5 years I think it will be irrelevant as both the GT2RS and the 458 value would be cut in half (and thats on a good day). If I were looking for pure resale value and she was going to be a Sunday driver when its sunny (ie. putting 1K mile p/yr. on her) then I'd definitely go with the GT2RS over the 458. As a daily driver thats just not my reality. Thanks for the guidance.
From 0-300km/h gt2rs is 5.5 seconds quicker than 458.
And 10 seconds quicker on the ring.

By the way tortesque, don't the 458's come with ceramic brakes as standard?
