Carbon build up on end pipes after ecu tune
Carbon build up on end pipes after ecu tune
Ok, I took the plunge and had my TT tuned by my local Porsche dealer as my personal christmas present. As far as performance improvement goes I'm a happy camper. The only negative (might be a bit harsh to call it that) is that after the tune there is now a lot of carbon deposits, I guess you can call it soot, showing on my end pipes, way more than before. I asked the Porsche tech that did my upgrade about it and he said it was perfectly normal for a tuned car to do that since the engine runs a much richer mix compared to stock and therefore throws more carbon out the pipes. Would you guys concur with that opinion? Should there be a very noticeable increase in carbon build-up after a tune? The car has a Sportec ECU tune, a stage 1 Europipe exhaust and a BMC filter installed...any input is greatly appreciated...
It's a swiss company called Sportec. Nor very well known on this side of the pond but they have a pretty good reputation overseas.
I would recommend US tuners since they are familiar with our fuels.
Running rich is a symptom of not optimized tune, the leaner the AFR(within reason) the more power you get.
PM me, you can test drive my car tuned by Protomotive, my mods are more extensive then yours.
