Help needed on '12 TTS pricing/decision
Perhaps all the frustration inherent in my seemingly continuously delayed 133k 991S order has a sliver lining. That is, I have begun to consider purchasing a TTS for a weekend/fun sports car. Either would be my first 911. I am thinking that the TTS, while the outgoing model, will always be a very special cat.......not so with a 991S in a couple years. Yea it is more $$, but it will be worth more in a few years than the 991S will be. I love the wide body and driving a car that has few equals in the speed category.
I am looking for some guidance as to what I should expect off of MSRP on a new '12 TTS at the current time to help me with my decision. Any other thoughts on this topic from the forum enthusiasts would be appreciated
Thanks for your time and help.

Of course, the performance will be the major difference (Night & Day). The price seems right (although you can price it out on Kelley blue book to determine cost), I think you are making the right decision.

IMHO your comparing apples to oranges. The 997TTS should not be compared to the 991S as they are 2 very different rides wearing the same badge (ie. like comparing the Cali to a 458). A used TTS with some miles on her might be found for close to your 991S MSRP (ie. around $135K) but expect to pay $160K-$170K plus for what is essentially a brand new 12 TTS with delivery miles. As far as depreciation I respectfully disagree. In 5 years time your TTS, like almost any car, will be worth 50% of what you paid for it (unless you didn't use it at all). Even my 07 997TT tip (which had a $150K msrp) with approx. 52K miles on her is worth bupkis (sp) now. My buyback is $56,900 and I don't even know if its worth buying her when the lease terminates in early June. Bottom line is that neither the 991S or 997TTS is an investment. A 1950's speedster is one thing and a Carrera GT another (how many CGT's are still worth their $460K MSRP). Anyway, my respectful advice is to simply acquire something you want to drive and spank the **** out of it every day. Forget about any of these modern rides as investments.
I see you are in S FL. I was at Champion earlier this week to check out the new 991s. It really is a terrific car. I do like the handling, the looks, the interior, and especially the exhaust sound. That being said, I would not trade my '12 997tt for it. I did see what I thought was a pretty good deal on a used '11 tts. It was black, pdk, and had 6k miles. They were asking $139k. If that car can be bought under $130k I think it is a real great bargain compared to a new one at $30-40k more. It may be worth a look. Good luck.
