My 997.1 TT I modded to about 650hp via AWE package (with giac).

This TT I'll DD and only want:
Improved exhaust note & turbo spool sound
Giac flash

Famous last words I know.

That said, will high flow cats with all else stock give me a fair bump in my sound objectives?

 

I find it odd that a 650hp motor does not have low restrictions cats already installed. If they are OEM cats I would say it would be not just a HP gain, but a safety gain as well as your exhaust gases will be less restricted thus dropping the temps within your turbos.

 

AWE uses 200cell HJS cats. I believe they are the highest flow cats that HJS makes that will not trigger a CEL.

 

Sorry, to clarify, looking or comments on the sound - notable bump in turbo spool sound and engine grunt?

 

Changing cats will change exhaust tone, and improve spool. But you will still be limited by the baffles found in the exhaust, diameter of the piping (65mm) , and the actual design of the exhaust. The improvement in sound is subjective...since you are relatively close to AWE, why not stop by. BTW, I have heard their cross flow exhaust - it is really exceptional.

I didn't see an AWE cross flow (assuming x-pipe) for a 997.2 turbo. they have 200 cel cats that I've been pondering however.
