Oil leak traced to this bolt, what the hell is it??

Oil leak traced to this bolt, what the hell is it??

Noticed some oil on the garage floor, did some investigating and found this bolt was lose, very lose (pic below).

No idea what its for but does not look like much of a drain plug.

Anyone ID this part? Do I need a new gasket / crush thingie or whatever they sometimes recommend on bolts?

Any help is appreciated. Pic is driver side from back end of car.

I had that bolt came lose on mine as well a couple years ago. If you unscrew it more, there will be more oil dripping out. Talked to a porsche tech about it and he told me to just tighten it back to 7-8 ft/lbs. You can also use some loctite 574 on the thread if you take the bolt completely out.

I remember The BOGG also had the similar problem.

Yeah I had something similar, it's the secondary oil reservoir or something like that. I don't know if your pic is upside down but my bolt was on the "up" side of the container. I just tightened it and think it has been fine. I'll check it next time I change the oil.

Just put about 300m on it this weekend and sure enough, that was the fix!
