Some sad news....Fortunately his original design of the 911 is even now still clearly visibile, no better tribute than that.

 

RIP Dr. Ferdinand Porsche.
The sports car world will miss this visionary and very talented gentleman. We salute him for what he has done to change all of our lives.

 

Very sad news. Seems to be quite a bit of people who don't really know the history all that well. Dr. Ferdinand Porsche was the designer of the VW Beetle among MANY other notable vehicles and died in 1951 just 3 short years after his son Ferdinand "Ferry" Porsche started the Porsche brand automobile company. Ferry died in 1998 which is also the very last year Porsche won LeMans in the 911GT1 which was also the 50th anniversary of Porsche, needless to say 1998 was a very emotional year for the Porsche family. Ferdinand Alexander, also known as "Butzi" Porsche, designed the famed 911 (originally known as the 901) and was the Grandson to Dr. Ferdinand Porsche and son of Ferry Porsche. Today, he's survived by his only child Ferdinand Oliver Porsche. RIP Butzi, your legend continues.
