20,000 vs. 40,000 miles

Looking around at the used 997tt market for a couple months, I was set on buying a sub 20,000 mile to allow me to drive it for 2-3 years and sell before it went over the 40k mile. However, I found a local 911 with all the options I want but with 40k miles already with 18 months of a the CPO left. Is getting the car for about $10k less worth having that extra miles? Would what I might save in price be spent on extra maintenance for a high mileage car?

Any concerns with a car with 40k miles? The DME report shows only range 1 and range 2 ignitions.

Along with the mile, the car has small paint marks on the normal spots of the car that would require repairs. How much would it cost to touch up about a dozen marks in the paint?

Also, it had about 100 very little marks in the paint inside the driver door where it lists the car info, any idea what thats from?

Thanks for the help.

I just made a similar decision on a 2008, only CPO to CPO. I would say car for car the difference should be about $15k based on mileage, then I would add the value of the CPO (to me at least $5k) and deduct the cost of the repairs. Big difference between touch up by a ding king vs a complete repaint of some of the panels. Also, are both cars up to snuff on service and definitely have an inspection on the non-CPO car including brakes, clutch, tires, etc.

This would be CPO to CPO. Its only nicks from rocks, nothing major. Just something I spend the cash to fixed on any car I owned. I think I am going to insist the dealer get the nicks fixed, then push for about 5-8% below asking.

Looking at this 07. Price seem high? They wont come off the asking prices?

Also, its it okay to get the PPI done at the dealership I would get the car serviced at over an indy shop?

I think the price is a little high. 8-10% reduction would make it a good deal. cost of cpo is 4k according to a dealership. a must imo.

I just went and looked at it again and the wear signs on the outside of the car really scream it was leased and not cared for like someone that owned the car. My car is far from a garage queen, but its paint is in a ton better shape and i would really like a car that was treated the same.

That and they have an identical turbo but in auto and only 22k miles and they are asking $79k and its been sitting for 145 days with the price just coming down.

When maintained to manufacturers specs these are extremely durable. IMO you're smart to be thinking about a CPO vehicle, it's worth the investment and piece of mind.

Hard to get around the wear that will come with a higher mileage vehicle. For me that's the real differentiator; the exterior paint, tires and interior wear. I'd pay a little more now and get a great lower mileage sample...then drive it 2-3 years like you mentioned in your post.

They are offering it at $71.4k, are willing to swap a set of black turbo wheels and clear reflects from another 911 turbo on the lot to mine for free (saving me the effort and cash of getting mine painted and buying reflectors). Also, its a local purhase so save travel costs and the time driving it back.

hmm, decisions.

Its got 15 months left on the CPO. Enough off the price for this to be a good deal?
