modified 997.1 owners..
I plan on keeping mine for the long haul. It has about as much performance as I could ever reasonably need, still has 3 pedals, looks great, and flies under the radar a bit better than any other car I would consider.
I can't see a scenario where I get rid of the 997.1 turbo, for too many reasons to list, but the main being the last of the overly-built dry sump engines and the (very enjoyable) GT2 clutch conversion. It's just SUCH a joy to drive, every mile is an experience. This question is more a matter of garage space rather than trading it in to lower the cost of the next car, and my TT will always have a home in the garage.
Only have had mine for about 4 months now. I love it. Was talking to my wife about it yesterday actually saying where do you go from here. The performance is so amazing i can't see trading it in for a ferrari and spending an extra 150k when i can put 20k into my TT and blow that ferrari away. I always wanted a guards red GT2 so that might be the next move if one pops up in 6-12 months.
It wasn't that I didn't want to put miles on it, I just found it difficult to take it to a lot of places. Valet parking, parking in general, too conspicuous in a small town or even in Pittsburgh & the limited driving season in the north. I own part of a restaurant and it has on street parking. Park it and the door was so low it would hit the curb. I'd have to drop my wife off and then park the car. It is a wonderful car if you don't mind having that much money tied up in a vehicle to drive on "special' occasions.
I've had mine for almost two years. About 1.5 years at 580hp, and 6 months or so at 700hp. I probably won't consider trading her in until my wife forgets how much I spent modifying...which may be never.
I very seldom keep a car for over a year - I get bored easily. I have had my EVT 775 for almost 2 years now. I have began playing with the idea of replacing it, but I don't know what I would replace it with without blowing a tremendous amount of savings. I think the only car I would replace mine with would be a 458 or a GT2RS...but both of them would demand an additional $ 150k on top of mine probably...that just hurts...LOL.
I drove the 458 and Aventador...but I really like my car I guess...as when I drove them I kept thinking about mine and how they compared. The 458 would fit me well...

I have my '08 TT for 2 years and I am going to hold on to it for at least 3 more. I may by another car, but I am about to start racing targas, so will probably keep moding and racing it.
