Over rev:(

Was messing around with my friend on his r1 an meant to grab 4 th but ended up grabbing 2nd .. Quickly noticed as the rpm jumped to 8k engaged clutch n quikley moved out of gear..

Was in sport mode and after I tested 2nd out and all gears again under heavy load and all seemed fine..
My question is is their any way I can tell if I messed anything up ie sound tiking or anything of sort .. I continued to drive for 30 min more to make sure everything was ok and it seemed it was all I can say thank god I didn't blow the motor , as if I did blow the motor I would assume it wouldn't run, I don't hear any unusual ticking like a bad lifter or anything like that all in all I would say the motor sounds fine..

I usually don't do that and that's the first time I e done this to my 997 turbo
I heard rpm jump m 2nd gear engaging but quickly got back on the clutch I also hope I didn't mess up my driveline ..
Any answers would help me feel better bout it , but am worried

This happens.... As long as the car continues to run good, I wouldn't worry about it and just take it as a close call.

Nothing happened, don't worry. If you have a durametric cable just check the ignition range that was recorded. But your motor is fine... If something was wrong with it you would know it by now.

If you are ever overly concerned you could consider compression and leak-down tests.

This would of been more of an issue if you were going fast & tried to go 1 gear down & then ended up with two i.e. 5th to 2nd or whatever, b/c conservation of momentum!

At Porsche racing school the cars (mostly manual) are driven by people with "limited" experience with manual transmissions. Suffice it to say, there's a few times the cars rpm's are higher than they're supposed to be!

Guys there said they run these cars many days of the year on the track & all the techs pretty much do is tires, brakes, & oil changes.

Your car will go into "limp" mode if it's unhappy, then you need a trip to shop.
