Questions on 997 Turbo S Suspension

Hello everyone, does anyone know what the differences are between 2007 Turbo Shocks and 2011 Turbo S Shocks (front and rear). The shocks, springs, top plates etc... appear to be identical. They do have different part numbers. I was wondering if the springs on a Turbo S are stiffer? Thanks in advance for any info.

While they make look the same, I believe there are 3 key differences between 997.1 and 997.2 Turbo:
1. Rear springs are slightly stiffer in 2011 Turbo.
2. Front sway bar is stiffer in 2011 Turbo, rear is softer.
3. Shock absorber in 997.2 is revised to correct the design flaw of PASM1 in 997.1 Turbo. The Normal setting of PASM1 is like a Lexus, and the Firm/Sport setting of PASM1 is so stiff as to be UN-useable on street driving.

Hope this helps. Any reason why you are checking? Just curious.

Thanks for all the info, I love this forum Thank you Cannga for taking the time, well the reason I asked is because I have one shock that needs to be replaced and have an opportunity to purchase dealer take offs for the price of one shock so I figured I would get 4 for the price of one and possibly upgrade to a better suspension at the same time. Thanks

^^You are welcome. Note that although 997.2 Turbo's suspension is improved over 997.1, it is *still* a very softly tuned car with a lot of body roll. Way too much for my taste anyway. The improvement might seem a lot on paper, in practice the change is not that significant, to me. Because the changes are not just in the shock absorber, but in sway bar and possibly programming of PASM as well, I would not recommend using 997.2 suspension on 997.1. Even if it works, it's not worth it.

If you really want to improve the suspension, I would suggest after-market coilover like Bilstein, etc. I have driven all versions of Turbo and for me, there is no question 997.1 Turbo with Bilstein is much more fun to drive than 997.2 with stock suspension.

Yes totally agree , I know Bilstein is the way to go I've experienced that in my past cars , for now was looking at replacement of a leaking shock . Thanks again.
