Track Wheels
Track Wheels
Hi all, anyone running OZ Ultraleggeras for track duty? Looking for a second set of non 20" wheels either way but wanted to know how they have held up.
From what I hear they are a great bang for your buck.

Id find a nice set of used 19" OEM GT3RS preferably factory coated in Carrera Orange. Definately the way to go. If they are good enough for the GT3RS....

...and I know where there is a nice set.

I'm using them with hoosiers & love the combo for the track i put GT2 center caps on & them & they look great ,if you can wait about a month i'm gonna sell mine with tires ,i want to run bigger tires & i'm maxed out with the 8.5 & 11's
Noticed you were running 315 out back what did you have in front 245/35's? I'm going to take a look at the ones local to me but I will keep you posted.
The Ultraleggera has been one of the most popular wheels we sell for Porsche. I have had next to no issues with any of the many sets I have sold. Durability, both track and street, has been excellent.
We are their US importer, so please give me a call to order, or you our banner button here! Thanks.

while not as stylish as the Ultraleggeras, I have been using 3 sets of 18" Allegerritas on my track cars. They are lighter than the Ultras, cheaper, and believe available in compatible offsets for the 997 turbo (possibly with rear spacers). Damon feel free to correct me here

is it ok to run 18'' wheels on turbo ??? does it effect the handlling ? or feeling ??
as long as you don't have PCCB, 18" wheels will clear the 997 turbo brakes. I have used 996 turbo hollow spokes and Carrera III factory 18" wheels as track wheels for my 997 turbo since 2006. Back then 18" tires were the only option for track rubber as very few 19" tire sizes were available. Now there are 19" options. Keep in mind though that all the factory Porsche race cars run 18" wheels and tires, not 19" or 20"

Only problem with that config is you're limited to very few tires, I think you only have MPSS and Cups available. Similar situation for 20" config, only option is MPSS
If you are worried about weight, change your brake rotors
A lightweight forged monoblock wheel is almost the same cost as the OZ + floating rotors. You save more weight and gain more stoping power with 2nd option
Also, what you save in weight in the 18" vs the 19" you will gain in the weight of the tire.
