Saw this car at my local dealership the other day
http://reeves.porschedealer.com/preowned/PORSCHE/911+2dr+Cpe+Turbo/2007/GRAY/gray/923463/info.php
Before test driving it the salesman told me the previous owner had traded it for a newer turbo pdk. He said the car had "a bunch of gt3 suspension upgrades" but be wasn't exactly sure what. When I inspected it the paint and interior looked good for a car it's age. But I saw a few red flags. First there were tiny crack lines on the rotors around the cross drilled holes. Salesman said that's normal bc whenever holes a drilled in rotors they are weakened( I thought they were cast) there was a pca sticker on the window plus a barber motor sports sticker and one from some other track. Car has toyo proxes not n rated tyres. He brought the tech out who had inspected the car and he said the car had lowering springs and "end links" but they don't know the manufacturer. He also said that the car needs a full brake service, and they won't certify it bc it would cost too much to bring it back to oem.
I test drove it and it seems to run strong pulls hard in sport mode, but it stops like crap, brakes squeak and abs triggers way way earlier than on my c4s. Also while going around a turn we felt the car start to oversteer at a speed that I know my c4s would have been totally stable at. The steering was also extremely light compared to my car, and the clutch was also much lighter than the c4s Looked at the dme he took a pic on his iPhone and showed me. Mileage/total hours was 31. There was an over rev in 3 and 4 range for was like 16 ignitions at 669 hrs the car was at 1210 hrs.
The price would be attractive if the car was cpo. I'm concerned about buying it and having to fix someone else's modified track toy, while paying a bank not at the same time. What do you guys think?

Pass. For 10k or less more you can get a pristine lower mileage .1
If it was a gt3 lots of the wear and issues you're talking about would be normal, but that TT has been modified for the track. Don't take someone else's problems.

Agree, sound advice.......However. Car needs a little of tlc to get it back.
The gt3 stuff is ok, the springs etc ain't a big deal. The rotors are consumables.
DME is acceptable. If the price is right and they align the car(will fix loose steering feel) and replace pads n rotors might be a good deal offer 55.

That is my old car. Zero issues with it unless they tried to align it and did a crappy job. The entire front of the car has the Xpel protection, the clutch is an almost new Sachs 2.5, springs and sways are GMG with factory end links. It also has the Tarett offset camber mounts and GT3 lower control arms. Do the math. A lot of $ goodies professionally installed on that car.
The Toyos have less then 500 miles on them and don't bug out over the "N" rating. Audi just picked up those tires for the OEM on the Audi RS5. The tiny cracks in the rotors happen, even with spirited mountain drives. They are cheap to replace from suncoast. Like Chris said, they are expendable. The pads are at least 75% Hawk DTC-60s with are awesome street/track pads. Yes, if the car has sat for a while, they will be noisy but dirve it for a bit and they will quiet down and work like a *****! The fluid is fresh ProSpeed 683. The car DOES NOT need a brake job. Dealer just trying to get some business.
The clutch is always easier on a turbo then a standard 911. It is assisted. That overev in 3/4 may have been a test drive or a technition running car is little.
That color is rare on a turbo and it has the factory 220 limited slip option. the car was always garaged and covered when not in use. When I bought it, I had the paint correction detail done on it. Guy spent 40 hours on it.
As far as me, I've been an instructor since 1998 so don't worry about my visit to VIR or Roebling (the track stickers on the car, not Barber) Another day in the park for a car like that.

True, especially when the previous owner was OCD with his stuff!
BIG thanks to Doc GTO for reaching out to me and taking the time talk to me about the car's history. Give this man some rep points!!!

Thanks! That car is awesome and if I didn't get a dedicated track car and a new daily then I'd still have it. PM with any other questions and remember, I still have a few goodies left from her in my garage.

Hair line cracks in rotors are OK too. They may need to be replaced in the near future (I have 45K miles and replaced my fronts 10K ago). Perhaps brake pads too, which means some extra $$ especially if you have to pay a mechanic to do it but if you can do it yourself it's not bad.
As far as oversteering in a corner goes... once you start tightening up the suspension in the TT you feel the rear a lot more than you normally would.
The stock suspension actually does a lot to mask the fact that your engine is hanging over your rear axle. Once you start tweaking it, you start noticing it a heck of a lot more

If the dealer tried to work on the suspension to remove what may have been extra camber they may not have adjusted everything correctly and the toe may need to be tweaked.
Looks like a decent deal for 38K miles.
Too be honest a car with those miles is a much better car than one with 10k. Too many things go wrong with a car that sits. Most dealers can tell you that. Cars like this need to be driven.
Ever wonder why barn finds need complete overhauls of an engine with less than 2000 miles on them? Its because a sitting motor is a bad thing
