Is this your modified GT2 versus a stock TT-S? In my experience, stock to stock, the TT-S gets the jump and pulls.

I would also say GT2 all the way. I have a 996 and it is a blast. Everytime I drive it, I am in heaven. hehehe
I hear the 997 GT2s are even better and they come with traction control which helps that my car did not come with. With almost 600 horses my car is still manageable but it requires respect. The back end is a bit snappy… you can't just slam on the gas pedal in the middle of the turn.

Yeah, it's nicely modded. Also, just to clarify, his friend that he raced has a TT and NOT a TTS. I've yet to do a friendly race with my buddy zzzspeed in my TTS in Mexico due to schedule conflicts but it will happen soon.

Personally I'd go GT2

6 speed and rear wheel drive. Perfect

semih is infamous around these parts
There is one question which that I can't find an answer for and that is: "why is a 997 gt2 such a "dangerous " car to drive? When you look at a mercedes cls 63 with biturbo engine, or cl 65 or a new bmw m5, ..i forget some other cars, ... they also have a lot of horsepower with a lot of torque. So why is a gt 2 dangerous( other than the tires, you put michelin supersports on the gt2 . I think that when driving in rain and you fully accelarate in mercedes or bmw, you will spin to. My friend has an cls 63 with 550 ps and in first 3 gears when accelarate you always have esp flikkering, porsche also has a stability system. can someone answer my question.

Probably dut to weight distribution (63% in the rear) and the slicks that have to be on GT2 (as far as I understand no normal road tyres are available for GT2?)

Yes its modified, but only power mods are ecu and sport cats. I have raced a regular 997.2 TT and it was not even close. Also have had a lot of seat time in a TTS, then jumped in my car and there was a clear difference in pull from a rolling start.
I can't wait to do a drive J.
And yes we are comparing a lighter car with around 90 extra hp, so not fair comparison. I was using it as a comparison to let the OP know, that with a little money in mods the car can be faster and much more enjoyable to drive.

The GT2 is a more dangerous car, I would call it tricky due to the twitchy rear end. Girls and Whimps need not apply.
You can not be chicken-footed in the turns!! The rear end will whip around in a heartbeat and you will be facing the opposite direction you are traveling in. I have seen a GT2RS video where they were explaining how the new GT2RS was tamed with proper tire sizing; by choosing the right front to rear tire with ratio that was close to the front to rear weight distribution ratio.
I have been told the GT2s can really benefit from a few suspension parts, along with proper chassis setup(alignment, corner weighing, etc.).
I am planning on working on that with my 996 GT2 which are a lot trickier\scarier to drive than the 997 GT2s from what I have read and heard; nicknamed WIDOWMAKER. I will install new coil overs, balljoint control arms, and possibly a LSD later on. I have read the LSD makes a huge difference; I'd like to try it out.

The suspension setup I did made the car feel like a go-kart. It removed just about all understeer, steering is even more direct, and the feedback is much improved. That is a lot considering the car is amazing in all these areas 'out of the box'. I heard that the LSD will get rid of the dangerous wheelspin that causes spin outs even when going straight.
I turned off TC&SC once, and was going 50mph driving on straight road, downshifted into 2nd gear and gave it 70% throttle, I started sliding into next lane and almost hit the curb at 70mph. I was told that the diff lets one tire start turning a moment before the other which causes the veering off when accelerating hard. They said replacing that fixes that problem. Then others have said this was not true. I have not done anything with it, and just don't make that mistake anymore.

My mods are listed in my sig, but I can specify more.

EVOMS ecu tune
200cell sport cats
BRV's
light weight flywheel clutch can handle up to 750hp
stage 2 RSS TARMAC suspesion setup.

My car is probably at 620hp/tq equal to a 2RS. It handles better then the 2RS I rode in at the track IMO. I have the camber set on the least aggressive setting as to save my very expensive factory tires. They can be adjusted for a track day to a more aggressive setting.

I can't give the list of all the parts involved with the suspension, since I don't know, but if you call Mike at RSS (one of the sponsors on here) he is very helpful. I highly recommend their product and their work. They have done all the work on my car.
Hope that helps.

I'll have to mortgage my house to get all the RSS bits!!
I do like the lower control arms they offer. The rest of the stuff, I can get for a lot more reasonable prices. Torque Solutions have a lot of goodies for good price.
Sorry, I did not know what came with RSS Tarmac. That is what I was trying to find out.

Are you implying the GT2 does NOT have an LSD??

The Widowmaker nickname started in the 70s with the first gen. turbo 911.

Without and LSD the inside wheel would spin, and less likely to cause power-on oversteer.

If traction is similar at both rear tires, an open diff will spin both and the car can veer off from the straight line. An LSD car, with both tires spinning, can do the same thing.

An LSD is better, but an open diff is arguably more predictable. No snap oversteer, etc.

And this assumes again you don't have an LSD?? On a GT2??

The OEM LSDs on 997s are weak. I'd bet if he lifts his rear, the wheels spin freely.
