Turbo tail

Forgive my ignorance, but I'm now considering a purchase of a 2010 997 turbo cabriolet and I have noticed that some of them have a tail that has an extra piece. Kind of like a double tail see picture. Is that an option? Or a certain year that did that? Thanks!

They're all like that. Stock wing is hydrolic and extends at 70-75 mpg I believe. You can also manually extend the wing with a button on the dash

Oh so this is actually with the tail up not at "rest" in this pic? Yes my Carrera S has a tiny wing at speed and the button. Thanks!

Yes, and the Cab wing raises higher than a Coupe wing...

Cab wing probably rises higher to get more airflow since the car doesn't have a roof directing the air toward the wing.

Frizz is infamous around these parts
The stock cab wing raises three centimeters higher. I believe this is to make the extended wing visible in the back mirror. Same height as the coup would mean the driver can not see wing when extended, so no difference to the base cabrio. Aerodynamic-wise you loose some miles.
