Modding Engine Vent

I realized after looking at several light colored 997TT's that the vent on the rear fenders upset the lines IMHO. The reason is the dividing line in the middle of the vent. Ferrari, NSX, Viper Lotus etc most cars just have a large opening. The divider looks cumbersome to me.

Has anyone with a light colored car either wrapped this in matte black as sort of an attempt to make it vanish or found a way to file it away yet leaving all smooth and stock looking?

I agree. This is what a turbo vent should look like. I hope the 991 starts heading this direction again.

It's funny that when I owned a 996TT, it was popular to put an aftermarket splitter in the opening. When the 997TT came out, everyone wanted to go back to the 996TT.

You could pull the panel out and cut the dividing plastic trim.

A carbon fiber (or paint it) GT2RS type opening will then fit.

That's it! The GT2 is the goal. That looks like a relatively easy mod! Anyone done it to non GT2 yet?

Err, that's a GT2RS. The GT2 vent is identical to the 997TT. The GT2RS is similar to the 996TT.

It's an easy mod. You snip the black plastic divider after popping the vent cover off. Then a GT2RS vent can be placed the the space.
