My TT is regretting leaving the rich life. Never driven in rain, always parked inside from the elements. Now purchased by a Eastside guy, she needs to be parked out side in the rain and snow. Rain entrees into the engine bay and wetting the power steering belt thus in the morning it feels like I have no power steering and She squeals like a cheap ***** in heat until the belt drys off.

Porsche really, you couldn't figure out a way to keep the engine dry? Hyundai figured it out for a $10k MSRP car.

Yeah, I'm not sure the last time my Turbo saw a garage but it was before I owned it. My belt tensioner pulley squeaks after a lot of rain, etc (sounds like I have mice in my engine)... I don't get the belt squeal however. Maybe you need to have some things tightened down? It should never be that bad where you lose power steering IMO. The dealership said I need a new pulley... I'll get around to that at the next oil change. ~$400

My Princess was a daily driver for almost a year... car seats and all... I'm very happy I picked up my '05 S4 a month ago to take over some of the duties. Had a multi kid vomit-o-thon in the car yesterday. That was worth the purchase price.

I had the same problem after installing a set of straight pipes on my 997. Water would splash up on the belt and cause squealing. I took it in to Porsche and they changed the belt. Problem solved.

I feel your pain. Search this forum for wet engine after car wash and you'll see my various threads and other posts regarding this issue. The single most retarded thing those engineers at porsche did was design that engine hood. I get belt squeak and loss of power steering too so you're not alone. Makes you wonder about all the "extreme" element testing they claim to do. What it doesn't rain in Stuggart?? Unbelievable.

The only time I had it that bad is when my car went through the dealer car wash... then all my dash lights lit up, alternator, etc.

..and again, they said my tensioner pulley was going bad... so dunno, maybe you want to have it looked at. We get a ton of rain in Seattle and I've never had power steering loss, just squeaky mice like sounds after rains.

I also thought that they did a mild re-design on the 997.2? Can't remember.
