Opticoat feedback

Swapped out my PCCB's recently with steels and track pads, the brake dust is overwhelming. In talking with my local detailer(Bob @ Auto Conierge) he recommended opticoating the wheels and calipers.

Has anyone done this? Feedback appreciated.

I was talking to my detailer about the same thing, i too would be interested on the feedback.. Break dust is so annoying....

i was on the phone with a detailer today. I asked about opti coat.
his response was "opticoat is garbage".
he suggseted something called liquid glass slealant or something like that.
he said one applied to the clearcoat (and wheels too), you can wash teh car up to 600 times before u see a single swirl mark.

funny my detailer told me to look at the opticoat thanks for the input... also i am always a bit worried about applying a "sealant" to any part of the car...

I have opticoat on my paint and I like it. I did not have them do the wheels. I will say bugs clean off better.

Steve- interesting I have not heard any bad reviews on opticoat. I have viewed its performance in person. Ask your detailer to elaborate on "its garbage" comment.

DNugget991GT3 07-10-2013 02:26 PM

this is the stuff he wants to put on my car.
www.gtechniqna.com
$700 to detail the entire car. 11 hours curing time on the sealant.
an extra $200 for the wheels.
he said i will not have swirls for AT LEAST 2 years or 600 washes.

anyone heard of this before ?

this detailer is pretty well known, and comes highly recommended.

I have 22PLE Pro Signature Glass Coating on my cars. Available from Esoteric car Care - http://esotericdetail.com/22ple-glass-coating/

Just applied a few months ago so can't speak to durability but love it so far.

They also sell the gtechnigna products so would be a good source of information on the differences in the two products.

I have had Opticoat on my sons Subaru paint and wheels a d my wife's MDX for the last year. This is a super durable coating that cleans up easily. Whoever said it is garbage is not in the industry. You may prefer something else but the Opticoat fits a need for a super durable , easy to clean coating. I clean the opticoated wheels with plain car wash soap. I have also used GTech EXO v1. The difference is EXO is slicker feeling and tighter beading but nowhere as near mar and scratch resistant. There is a v2 EXO that addresses some of this I am told but have never used myself.

Bob knows his stuff. One of the top guys in the detailing business. He did not lead you wrong.
