8053 Error Code - Steering column causing PASM to fail
Hey guys - been a while since I was on here - life just keeping me to busy
So here's a peculiar issue I'm having... The error code is a 8053, which indicates a problem with the locking mechanism in the steering column.
This has got my independent shop stumped and even the Porsche service guys have never heard of this type of error before.
Here the kicker, it was intermittent, the error would appear (showing a PASM failure - killing any suspension management), however it would disappear if the car was switched off and switched back on. It would happen maybe once a month and never show it's head for quite some time.
Now it's on pretty much all the time.
Well after I switch the car on - there is no error, as soon as I start to move the car the error appears and causes a PASM failure. Here's the kicker - if I don't move the car I can switch the sports suspension on and off with no problem. But again everything dies after the car moves.
Any thoughts on this?
Any one have encountered this before? My fear is taking the car in with an open checkbook for exploratory analysis.

It should be a PIWIS procedure done with alignment.
So the shop spent 3 hours trying to locate the issue with no avail. They said it wasn't the steering angle sensor.
They said they couldn't replicate the problem (PASM failure - which as fate would have it appeared again today, it was in the shop yesterday and they couldn't replicate the fault). Enough to drive a man mad.
Although that obviously points to something electrical and not mechanical.
They did find that the following errors, which when cleared came back as soon as the car started to move, although these did not trigger the PASM failure.
5400 Fault Sport Mode
000D Front right shock absorber valve.
I now have to schedule another appointment - more exploratory work... I have a feeling this is going to get VERY expensive. Wondering if I should just get rid of these Bilstein B16 pieces of crap - and replace with KW shocks (that is if the Bilstein B16 shocks are the cause - I already had one issue with them in the past which rendered my car inoperable for 5 weeks, lost in Bilstein bureaucracy before they finally replaced the strut).
All that said, my shop/guys suspect that the wiring to the front shock is the problem.
Is this possible? I'm kinda thinking it could be. Any other ideas?

1- Check your PASM wire going into the shock absorber,
The wire can be bent between shock and sway bar and it is damaged inside, causing short circuit.
2- You have a faulty shock absorber
3- You have a faulty PASM unit, take out your PASM main unit, look inside for some damaged resistors etc..
