Boost Logic vs Switzer vs TPC/Proto vs AMS

Hey Guys,

I want to know your advice when comparing these brands:

Boost Logic 6''
Switzer 6''
TPC/Proto 5''
AMS ALPHA 5.5''

I've heard good things about each brand so now I am looking for the best option that people have experienced.

Thanks guys,

Nasser

I have received nothing but huge praise from our customers on our current intercooler kit. In fact I have even had them take off competitors units in favor of ours due to fitment and performance. We are the only company of the selected vendors above to include a functional Carbon fiber duct designed specifically for our intercoolers. No cutting, modifying or removing the duct all together. Our intercooler was designed like all of our parts to fit as well or better than an OEM piece and to last just as long.

Keep in mind our unit is also on the shelf ready to ship whereas most of our competitors have a long ETA as they are build to order.

Are the 997.2 intercoolers ready too?

AMS Aug 14, 2013 11:43 AM

We actually fit the 997.2 thanks to the help of our dealer and the current kit does fit and the owner of the car was very pleased with the final product. We however think it needs some special adjustments to be called an ALPHA product so we want to get a 997.2 specific kit ready. The good news is we will have a 997.2 kit available in the very near future.

I would be using gt2 rs intercoolers as they have been proven to be better than most aftermarket cores unless you go the aerospace route.

I just think sticking massive lumps of metal next to the engine means more heat soak which is why I think they are the size they are.

I don't think the GT2RS/.2 Intercoolers will fit a Non VTG turbo set up? Or will they? Curious to know :)

How about the vendors posting up some IATs? Not from a short dyno run, something from a VMax run or a day at the track?

Why would they not? Its only the hoses you from the turbo to the inter cooler.

True now that I think of it I don't know why I assumed the end tanks were different. Whoops.

But there will always be a certain boost pressure limitation to the plastic end tanks I guess..

It would definetly be more effective if vendors do post some data other than Dyno pulls.

Sorry to hijack Nasser.

This probably won't be a popular statement, but the vendors aren't going to post IAT data on their intercoolers. There's just too many variables - ambient temperature, duration of the run, what gear, number of sequential pulls, etc. Most of the potential customers aren't going to be able to interpret this data correctly in an apples to apples comparison. It would probably also end up showing that the 997.2/GT2RS intercoolers are 90% as good as the $5,000 intercooler kits. Not what the vendors who are making 50-75% profit on these kits want to see.

If I were testing them I would do 3 consecutive 4th gear pulls from 3,000rpm to redline about 10-15 seconds apart, and compare IAT to the ambient temperature over the course of the three runs.

Amazing how you can buy an intercooler kit for an EVO, F-Body, Mustang, etc. with a very similar core (and twice as large) to what the Porsche vendors are using for $1,500 including custom made piping, nice clamps, silicone couplers etc. In 997 turbo land they want $1600 JUST for EVOMS turbo inlet pipes, and people run stock intercooler piping.

That being said, if cost is no object I would buy the AMS/Alpha intercoolers. They look like the best option on the market.

The price markup in Porsche land is crazy.

I got one from AMS, perfect quality, they have fit very well!
Some tests soon with different boost (1.4-2.2 bar)

Nice I look forward to this!

What coolers did you use before?
