Pics of a nice car that's displacing my Turbo baby from the garage.
How on earth did a car like that end up at carmax? I've seen M3s and even 911 turbos, but not one in such good shape and with such low miles. I'm thinking of getting an M3 as well... what an amazing deal!
congrats on the new car, as a peer m3 owner, I would highly suggest you take it to bmw dealership and check to see if the car has latest DCT software as it does make a difference. The second point would be seriously consider a full Akrapovic system, so far it is the best upgrade out of Brembo, KW clubsport TE37s and other upgrades I've done. The exhaust volume is relatively mild, pitch is on the low side, and it is very light due to its titanium construction, I always thought I was imagining the revs would rise quicker until I drove another OEM car the other day, beyond 5000rpm, Akra will get you to redline faster.
congrats again on the car and hope you enjoy it, and also thank you for your thorough reviews on turbo parts

congrats on a nice car, Cann. Not sure it should displace the tt from the garage though, lol. This is the car I would've gotten if it had awd, but got a white A6 instead. Lots more snow up here than where you are.
Congrats! I ordered an AW E90 M3 in the last few weeks they could be ordered. Plans changed, so I never bought it. I sure wish I had though! Mine was ordered with Black interior w/Fox Red inserts, CF trim, Competition package, Cold weather package, Premium Package 3, alarm, automatic high beams, 6 speed manual, and a sunroof. I ordered with basically all options I could get besides Nav. Pretty sure that was a 1 of 1 car. Never got to see it. I'd love to buy it if I ever see it for sale though. I'm keeping my eyes open
What color interior is your M3? Are you going to make a thread dedicated to the car, kinda like your Bilstein Turbo thread? If yes, I'm in for the pics!

Fairly crazy about photography too and yes, more pics are coming. For used car purchase, carmax experience is compelling. The extended warranty is an amazing deal and makes a used car purchase with them even more appealing, especially for German car like BMW.
The extended warranty actually allows customers to take car to BMW for extended-warranty service - strange but I will take it!
I am a picky person in general, but OCD so
when it comes to cars, and I could tell you this much: you will absolutely love the M3. It's more of sports sedan of course, but the overall feel of the car, the suspension, steering, and power delivery in city driving, with the dual clutch transmission, leave nothing left to be desired. I actually looks forward to driving it just for the sake of driving, just like my Turbo. Very satisfying!

Took my M3 baby to work with me and took some shots at work (I was on 24 hour call - why the planned night shots.)
Camera Canon 1D, lens 85 f/1.2, RAW developed by Capture One.
The more I drive the M3, the more I love it. On 2 critical parameters, steering and suspension, car is fantastic. Still prefer the non Servotronic steering setting though, as it is more natural to me. The Servotronic setting is quicker, but feels artificially so.
Dual clutch, coming from a manual transmission die-hard: love it, much more than I had expected. Very smooth and lightning quick.

Cannga, nice shots.
Whenever I decide to take real pictures I shoot with a 1Ds as well. Also, for 2012 whenever shooting at events (car stuff for fun) I exclusively used my 85mm/1.2 not to mention when shooting professionally, Capture One Pro, tethered.
Are you sure you only are only a shutter bug enthusiast? Sounds like you may have been "schooled"

Thanks again everyone for the nice comments. The Porsche Turbo Manual + BMW M3 PDK pair is for me the best that I could come up with given my budget; 2 cars with tremendous pedigree and given the history, you simply can't go wrong with. Actually Porsche Turbo Manual + Boxster PDK would be my first choice, but the wife is not convinced of Boxster's grocery-bag worthiness, so Turbo + M3 pairing is given a tie for first and I will have to add Cayman later as my next car. Hopefully by then Porsche will no longer stick with this idiotic concept of artifically restricting Cayman power, will have released a GTS Cayman or something GT3 like, with electrical motor to help with the low end torque.
BTW here is another low mileage White 2011, but a coupe, loaded and low miles from Carmax. If you want one, act quickly, and be sure to get the 6 year extended warranty - after all, like our Por$che it i$ al$o a German car

Car was serviced by BMW dealer (scheduled oil change) in 12/2012. Would this have been done automatically by the dealer, or do I have to ask them to check specifically?

Because I am not a pro, I would shoot hundreds at different angles and lighting, then select a few later at home. Yep, that's my secret, quantity over quality :-). The shots on the mountainous road were not as sharp because I was standing in the middle of the road without tripods for some of them and was so afraid of being run over
. We have nearly identical equipment!

^^^
Pics look great to me. Nice car!
Congrats and drive in good health. Bimmers sure are fun to drive and IMHO have the best steering and suspension feel for the sports sedan class. A very nice pair up with our Turbo.
