Chrono997TT is infamous around these parts
Cleaning up unpainted chin spoiler 997TT

So between scraping the chin spoiler on entering the ridiculously steep parking lots in Houston, and some inept valets...the plastic chin spoiler on my 997TT is looking pretty rough.

I've bought a new one and plan to install it tomorrow. My rockers and spoiler are unpainted....but my question is this:

What's the best way to "clean up" the dinged spoiler? As I'd like to keep it for the eventuality that I trash the new one. There are some superficial "cosmetic" scrapes at the center and along the visible edge near the wheel. They aren't too deep.

I'm going to use a razor blade to trim the frayed plastic, but what can I do on the sides of the spoiler? Would sandpaper work? If so, what grit? wet and dry?

Any advice appreciated!

Hi...

The items you are referencing are made of a textured plastic, and really not anything you can do to "Clean then up". If you are looking to keep them, your best option may be to sand them smooth, apply plastic adhesion promoter (PAP), primer, and spray to match the color of your car. Not much else you can do with them.

Good luck..
