Turbo Timer?
Turbo Timer?
So the last time I had a turbo car was back in 2000 when I had an Audi S4...which I loved. Everyone seemed to use turbo timers back then.
Just wondering, did Porsche build something into the system that runs the hot oil after shut off? Or is there some other mechanism to help prevent the oil from clumping/sludging...is this even an issue on the 997.2 Turbo?
I've been purposely driving easy the last few miles and even letting the car idle a minute or so after heavy driving.
Thanks!

Generally speaking you only have to worry about it with an oil-cooled turbo. The turbos in a 997 Turbo are water cooled, idling them with a turbo timer isn't really necessary. I have an electric gate that opens and lets me into the driveway to get to the garage, it takes about ~30 seconds to open the gate and the garage door. I consider that plenty of time to let things idle and cool before I pull in and park.
