07-09 Turbo vs 997 GT3
07-09 Turbo vs 997 GT3
First, I read the thread on this topic from 2012. I am more interested in
suspension along with overall opinion.
Background. I have owned; 1979 Andial 350HP Turbo, 97 993 Turbo and a 2005
996 Turbo which I modded with PSS9 suspension.
Also owned 2007 GT3 and numerous other Porsches.
Current; 2006 Viper with a stroked motor, forged internals, Stryker heads,
full Belanger exhaust, Motons and 3.55s. About 650 HP and less than 6k miles.
I am looking to getting back to Porsche and keeping the Viper. Loved the GT3
but it is very low, maybe a .2 with nose lift, but the closest thing to what
Porsche used to be. Also considering another Turbo, 07 - 09, but think they
are a bit soft in the suspension department. Read the that issue was fixed in
2010 but someone said the difference was just different shocks. Also saw an
08 Turbo the guy says was set up Euro ride height at the factory? Did not know
thins could be done.
Bottom line, is there a cost effective way to set up an 07 -09 Turbo suspension
to bring it close to GT3 handling?
Thanks,
Herc

Yes is the short and simple answer. While a turbo will probably never handle JUST LIKE a GT3. there are many things that can be done to make it pretty damn close. Additionally, while the AWD on the turbo does make it weigh more, its still worthwhile (at least to me). I run TT1 for NASA and continually chase down GT2/GT3's, surprisingly in the corners and not just the straight aways.

There is quite a bit of good information in this thread. I have a full stage 4 setup with the Bilstien Coilovers, GMG Sway Bars, and full Tarett suspension.
While a turbo is not a GT3, I promise with the right modifications, its pretty damn close in handling.
