08 Turbo won't start. Lots of fail msgs

Started happening this week. Just got the car about 3 weeks ago, 08 Werks 1
Turbo with 5800 miles.

Drive the car from cold then it sits for 3 to 4 hours. Go to start and get;
PSM fail, ABS fail and depress clutch, sometimes also indicator fail, oil gage
fail and system fail visit workshop. I changed the clutch switch and added a
new battery, thought everything was fine then same thing last night. After
messing with it for 45 min finally got it to start with just PSM fail, depressed
the brake a bunch and the abs fail went away, just luck I think.

Read a 4 year old post from a guy here that had the same sounding problem
but he never reported back, pm'ed him.

No leaks that I can see and I wen through all the fuses.

If you have a Durametric or other scan tool, scan the car for codes. I bet there is something stored in the memory. Otherwise you're just throwing parts at it. If you don't have a scan tool of some sort, it may just be easier to get it towed to the dealer.

Yea, about to go down and try my scan tool. Tried the same tool at my buds
house Thur and it wouldn't register, same tool I used on my previous 07 GT3
and it worked fine. Going to the dealer Tue.

Started fine, no codes on the reader.

I would have expected that to be a battery issue. When it fails to start, do you hear clicking noises? All those errors and your symptoms seem to match a bad battery, but you said you replaced it. What type of battery did you get?

Ran the car for a while, checked the battery and looks like the alternator is charging. One
strange thing, the brake lights do not work and a light on the right rear, inner red light, is
not working. Fuse is good. The car was CPOed before it was sent out. I thought I saw
something about rear lights not working. Could a brake pedal switch cause all of the
above?

If it is CPO'd I wouldn't spend another second trouble shooting it. Let Porsche fix it!

It's going in on Tue. Can't help trying to trouble shoot though.

I know on the 996's a bad ignition switch can cause issues too.

Had no idea the rear lights were acting up, it came right to me certified pre
inspected by the dealership. First time I noticed was the morning after I
got it home Sat night, haven't driven it since but will have to get it to the
shop. No messages on the lights and all fuses are good, I think I might also
have a bad brake switch, will find out when I get it to the shop, too much
snow today.

Do you check your brake lights every time you get in the car? Maybe i
should add that to my pre-filght.

Wouldn't there be some sort of brake light out indicator on the dash? Or is the complete dash lighting up with failures?
