One can't deny Porsche did make provisions for roof racks, but it does seem that carrying a bicycle on the top of a GT2 performance automobile seems to be contrary to the image of our Porsche super cars!

Kind of like putting an aero kit on an AMC Pacer, the two just don't go together!

IMHO. YMMV.

I'm quite fond of those little flaps. In fact its a prerequisite when I buy my cars.

I bought a GT3 (997.2 did NOT have little flaps) and bought an Allroad for bike duty. Got rid the allroad because it was dull and traded the GT3 for a Turbo S (Mistake) because the Turbo S DID have them.

I'm the resident 911 roof rack guy and post these photos often when people ask about roof options. There are many of us, it works, try it. Don't succumb to "....Go buy a truck....."

A please Porsche, make that rumored 911 Safari!!!!

Given that the 911 is a relatively short car, I guess a roof box would also be really easy to get stuff in and out of for long trips.
