TCU Options?

Hi I was wondering what options are out there when looking into a TCU for my Tip? I'm not looking to start a debate on which is best but I was looking for a list of companies so I can research and make an informed decision.

Thanks!

Hello Chris,

We can upgrade your TCU with increased shifting RPMs and torque limiters.

Dont hesistate to ask if you want anything else.

Regards,
Emre

We've got multiple stages of transmission flash options based on what you're doing with the build.

Emre and Austin,

Would you gentlemen mind elaborating on your products in more detail. Due to the rarity of tiptronics by US owners there isn't a lot of information about these upgrades on these forums.

From what I have gathered there are 2 main upgrade paths.

1) Actual hardware modifications of the tiptronic transmission box, in order to strengthen it and allow larger power delivery and possibly smooth out or shorten shift times.

2) The other upgrade is a software update of the actual TCU, which includes raising the torque cutoff and maybe increasing the rev limiter.

What's unclear to me, is whether any of these will help with the conservative shift patterns, or stated otherwise hold onto the lower gears longer, to keep the turbos on boost. Do either manufacturers TCU remaps have different shift patterns with sport button on or off, a bit like sport plus on the PDK? Do your TCU remaps make the gear changes smoother or harsher?

Cheers,

drvik

Our software does recalibrate the shift patterns more specifically for higher torque requests to alleviate gear hunting and allow the vehicle to hold gears longer. The calibration that we typically use does not have harsher shifting characteristics, however, we do have more aggressive options that are a bit more harsh. That is in addition to raising the rev limiters and reducing torque converter slippage. There are other items, but those are the larger ones.
