I'm surprised the engine "let go" at less than 70K miles even though you were going 170, what let loose?

Yes unusual but mine used to be a daily driver with lots of motorway miles at high speed. Not really sure of the cause but a cylinder liner melted - a few months before I lost a coolant hose and it took me five minutes to find a safe place to stop - I think that could have caused a heat spot and weakened the liner but just guessing. I don't take the car above 6k revs anymore and it happened at about 60k miles - mileage now 67k miles! Whole thread on it here http://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/t...gine&mid=91629

+1 Wow, the iconic profile of the 911 coupe NEVER gets old! Great shot Matt.
It's been 3 yrs and I'm still trying to warm up to the 991's exterior design! Am I suffering from 997 bias? I think the 991 is a lovely Porsche in the great evolutionary tradition of Porsche A.G but when I think 911 coupe profiles, the 997 and earlier models do it for me. Am I stuck in the past or do others feel this way...(I know I'm on the 997 forum, likely different answers if posed on the 991 forums)?

I like the 991 - but prefer the 997 over it, and the body of the 993 over the 997...

I like all 911 iterations but the very best, the most coherent is the 997 imo.
They designed a master piece and I am convinced over the years the 997 will stand out and be very desired.

Here are a few pics of my toy after a recent detail this past spring. I really love the Basalt Black. It is so much easier to keep clean than regular black and has incredible depth. Enjoy!
