Agreed! I spent most of my life thrashing these roads on my R1's, GSXR 1000, CBR 929, FJR1300 (most recently).
I started doing track days and then the mountains just seemed too dangerous to ride as fast as I was going at that point. Still fun, but not "Track Fun".
