Sorry I missed where you said you didn't raise your rev limiter. What the hell is the point of having a rev limiter if it will allow overrevs?

+1 on this.

are there any other brands except Porsche who record "over-revs"?

Over revs are over rated, IMO. I went over rev crazy when I was looking for my turbo, I found one that was clean but if I look back at the cars I passed up because I was being too **** about this stat, I could have had my car sooner.

Im glad it's there but I think people read into them too much. My .02.

Agreed! It is nice to know if someone nearly blew up the engine....But fractions of a second of bumping up against the suggested limit is "****" as you put it.

And all the other cars you may have purchsed without this indicator?? Could have been at redline for a bunch of time and you would never know or care as long as the car ran fine and was problem free

That is my .02 also

Looks like you've got it a little easier in the US of A. Here in the UK, hits in range 3 within the last 200 hours prevent you obtaining extended warranty. Outside 200 hours and you can apply for the warranty assuming satisfactory leak-down test.

but i am on STOCK 6.800rpm limiter.
the range 4 over-rev happend as i powershifted from 4th to 5th

maybe i'm over-reacting on this but...you know... i'm annoyed about it.
i treat the car fine, i'm not reving over 3k before the oil reaches 80°C, i let it cool down everytime before turning it off, i do change the oil frequently, i really take care of the car but this is not written anywhere on the dme!
DME says: hey this guy beats the crap out of me all the time, dont buy me.
that sucks.

cheers,
Luke
It sounds like you drive the car like it's meant to be driven. Much respect for that.

However unless you don't care about money...I would never power shift any 911. You're looking at an expensive repair bill much sooner than later if you continue to do this.

I used to power shift in my C6 Vette all the time, but the trans and drivetrain is much more stout so you can get away with doing some tomfoolery.

To add my 2 cents to the topic.

In all of my sports cars I've ever owned I've hit rev limiter on numerous occasions. Although it's for a fraction of a second. It's there to protect the engine. I am not sure why people worry about this.

IMO I'd be most worried if an inexperienced driver (or someone that has a brain fart) does a money shift going from 5th to 2nd or 4th to 1st
