clunking - video inside

Hey Guys,

i am observing some sort of clunking which i think is coming from my gearbox.
not sure if it's coming from flywheel/pressureplate/clutch/TOB or maybe from a mount - the sound only occurs on initial load changes and gets louder the more miles i put on the car.
was slightly noticeable 3k miles ago but now it's loud enough to catch it on camera even though you will have to turn up the volume.
i tried to reproduce the clunking by tapping the throttle shortly.
ignore the higher pitched clicking as this has nothing to do with my problem.
the clunking is most noticeable @0:22-0:38 so ignore the rest of the video.

any ideas? seems like there's something lose.

maybe one of you had the same problem and could give me some ideas where to look at.

cheers,
Luke

You might look at the transmission mount.

drove to the dealer today and showed them the problem.
they are pretty sure it's a "worn out dual flywheel."

do you think it is safe to drive that way until the clutch quits?
i'm still on the stock clutch which i'll have to replace anyway sooner or later.

cheers,
Luke

yes its very likely to be a worn out flywheel. do both sooner than later as your clutch needs replacement as well. I am not sure if driving with a worn out flywheel will have a long term impact, maybe issues with transmission.

From patrickmotorsports website:
"DMFs are calibrated to handle the engine’s maximum torque reliably to reduce speed fluctuations transmitted to the gearbox."

changed clutch and flywheel.
clunking still there

i'm a bit helpless now.
installed transmission mount inserts - no effect on the clunking.
so i don't think it's the transmission mount as those inserts should
have at least made any difference to the noise....or?

i somehow have the bad feeling this noise comes from the gearbox or maybe a differential but i'm not sure and have no idea how to sort it out as you can only reproduce this noise while driving - no noise when on the lift.

don't know where to look now. any ideas ?

cheers,
Luke
