I don't see what's so wrong w modding our Porsches?
It's part of the fun and pride of ownership. It seems like 90% of new owners can't wait to start working on or improving or modding their new car. Doesn't it??
I'm OK w what he did. A particular mod may, for example, not be necessarily my taste, but then orange cars don't blow most of you all's skirts up either!
I love all Porsches!

Agree with many others above. When you spend your money, you can do what you like with your car. Porsche's are, in fact cars
While we love them, they are cars, and anyone that has the money to buy them can do what they like to them....Just like we should not go around to people's homes and tell them what kind of paint colors and landscaping they can use.....we should not judge what they do with their cars....Just an opinion

So its cool to try and copy anything? So Apple, Louis Vitton, Christian Loubotin, chanel, Michael Kors, etc should just shut up and realize if someone wants to copy their high end stuff they put all the work and R&D into, they can because if they have the money they should be able too?
a body kit is one thing. Making it look like another car is lame, and a poser... being something its not.
^its whoevers money, if they want to paint it with zebra stripes thats there choice, you don't have to like it.
i agree about modding cars to create "something its not", defiantly not my cup of tea.
look at the guys that build these 1k/hp porsches to drag race, i can assure you thats not the 911 pedigree but to each there own

I wrapped my hood and mirrors. I choose this because after, finding one hood in CF and a CF mirror set that I liked and it didn't match.
When I wrapped the stock mirrors and hood, it match perfect and also look great.
Also, I can replace them as necessary for $100 plus my labor. I track the car once in a while and, this is one hell of a rock deflector. I would hate to destroy a CF hood at the track.

So basically by that logic, you're calling porsche itself as a brand a poser, since they do in fact sell their own OEM Aerokit for the 997.1 carrera which is nearly identical to a narrow-body gt3. IMO, it's you car do as you want with it. There's much more distasteful cars than a turbo with a gt2rs kit. Hell, ES Motor has several turbos with gt2rs kits and I sure as hell wouldn't complain driving one of those

You cant be liking the car too much if your goal is to make your car look like a car it isnt.

I always disliked it when someone out add a turbo badge, when it wasn't a turbo, or back in 1985 when the turbo Z's had the black mirrors and guys would paint their 2+2 mirrors black to look like a turbo. But that is my opinion.
Do whatever you want to YOUR car. Its Your car and you have to live with it, not me. I also live by the rule, just because you can, does not mean you should. I see cars all day with wacky scoops and chrome accents and say Yuch, but the owner must look at it and say, WOW.

No, Englewood NJ. I remember when I had an M3 and guys would steal M badges and put them on various non-M models. I like mods too just don't agree with fake badges. If that was a 997 turbo, then make a cool, orange 911 turbo. Lots of angry attacking people here.. unsubscribing to this thread so attack away. Happy skill comment and too much time comments? This board is about getting information and sharing opinions, but not attacking people or making wise *** comments. I think faking badges reveals something about one's level of insecurity and that is my opinion.

Or taking a 996 911 carrera and trying to make it into a 997 turbo look alike. When the ONLY think turbo about it is the badge you just got on EBAY.
There is a HUGE difference in a factory Aero kit, a TECHART or RUF tuned porsche, and making a 2003 boxster look like a 991 911.
I dont think i EVER said the GT2RS kit was posing.
In fact I asked if the orange car in question was the same one I used to see in Virginia that was a 996 911, that was POSED into a 997.2 turbo .
There is a massive difference in a guy that puts the power and the kit together and builds a car. Vs the kids that slaps a ill fitting kit on a car and tries to be a model or brand he isnt. THAT is a poser.
Now if I am honest my only knit picking with the GT2RS build would be the badge. Build it like one but leave the badge off. But that is super knitpicking.

A guy at my gym just bought a 325i. The next time I saw it, the 325i badge was replaced with a "M" badge. Sad, so sad.
