GSR Autosport is infamous around these parts
Turbo good to go!

After replacing the 4 - O.E. plastic pipes with stainless steel Sharkwerks units in addition to pining the coolant hoses, gmoney's Turbo was good to go!

If the engine is already out how many hours is it for the pinning job not including reinstalling the engine?

I had one of the coolant hoses leak which was fixed under warranty. Then about a year later (out of warranty) I was driving with my wife in the car, who was pregnant at the time, when the coolant dumped. Thankfully, I wasn't going fast (I think it started dumping when I went over a railroad crossing a few miles from my home). My advice is to fix it, it's more than worth it. It's worth while to replace all of the coolant hosing (and seals) around the engine while you are at it. I also upgraded to the Sharkwerks GT2 coolant pipes. http://www.sharkwerks.com/products.php?pid=394 No problems since.

Most of the cost is in taking the engine out. Might as well go all out if you are doing that.

I think it took me less then 17 hours to pin my pipes and that's with the engine IN the car. I followed this excellent thread on Renn http://forums.rennlist.com/rennforum...n-the-car.html

Our cars are slightly different and require 7 pipes to be pinned http://rennlist.com/forums/997-turbo...any-parts.html but with a bit of elbow grease and perseverance one can do this themselves for less then $20 in parts.

17 hours!! - my total job including changing the clutch was around 20 hours including the engine pull and put back. Also has few other things done but 17 hours is a rip off with engine already out.

If the engine is out and on the ground, there is no reason to take longer than 2-3 hours to pin them. I did it in the car with no prior Pcar experience in less than a day!

Is there a way to check for leaks from the pinning without first reinstalling the engine? I recall being told that one of the reasons for the cost was in case engine had to be dropped again to fix leak from the pinning.

Both have the GT1/Mezger block - should be the same.

I used the instructions from the Renntech post which was for a 997! Mine had one or two additional fittings.

I just got clarification from my indy - they aren't completely dropping the engine to install the larger turbo inlet pipes and that's why it costs so many additional hours if I wanted the pipes pinned. Guess I'll wait till there's another reason to drop the engine or if I experience problems (fingers crossed )

Neat, thanks for the pics. Did you have coolant dripping? I see some pink foamy fluid from the pics.
