Anyone offer carbon ceramic brakes and pads for standard calipers?
Anyone offer carbon ceramic brakes and pads for standard calipers?
Just curious if any has any info on if anyone offers a simple rotor/pad combo for the standard calipers. If so let me know who. Thanks in advance?
1) Suncoast, among others, offers OEM kits.
2) Fusion, a new company in the U.S. (California, maybe?) is about to go into production with their kit for 997 turbo. GMG is their dealer. Fusion is a bit less expensive
than OEM, and they claim the rotors are re-surfaceable. They are, however, quite new, so.....
3) Surface Transforms, in the U.K., offers kits now, has a good reputation (AFAIK), and I think they have a U.S. rep.
4) Freno, in the U.K., is an intriguing company making carbon carbon, rather than carbon ceramic, rotors. They claim advantages of virtually zero warm-up time, even less weight than carbon ceramic, AND...her it comes...LOWER COST !! They have a U.S. rep, and are currently selling kits for several Lotus applications. They say they are bringing other applications as fast as they can. Interesting.
5) Muvit. Users say these brakes can stop the Earth's rotation. They are amazing works of art. At ~30,000 a set, they should do all this, and the laundry.
The conclusion is: OEM is great, no mysteries, available today.
Surface Transforms are established, known, available today.
Fusion is U.S. made, coming soon, U.S. after-sale service by
a reputable company.
Freno---still over the horizon, products are currently being raced
and used on the street, only ones taking a different approach to
carbon brakes. But, no Porsche yet, so out of the question.
Hope this is of some use.
