The GT3RS gets driven as much as my turbo and both are so enjoyable in their own distinctive way. I am often asked to compare the two but you can't. They are like apples and oranges. I got to drive the 991 GT3 for a few days and that car is very special even though I thought I would not like it with PDK. It doesn't match my GT3RS for being a "Driver's car" so to speak but in every area the 991 GT3 hits the mark from the clatter to the scream it makes when pushing it to the redline. I won't sell my turbo as I love it so much or of course my GT3RS but I would love to add the new GT3 but that won't go over well with my wife! Here are my two German girls together and my turbo at the beach in San Diego
thats the best of both worlds right there...bad *** cars..

I havnt driven a 991 gt3 ..but one of my favs of all time was the gt3rs...the reason why I choose my turbo was because I love driving manual and the instant speed violent delivery...you have to give points to a car that you can mod to your likening ...600whp is a good easy number to reach on these cars and after you feel this power you can never go backwards ...
I'm going to be keeping my turbo forever because after driving cars like lp560-458-r8 ...I'm not saying the turbo is better but those cars felt slower then mine and the only reason why I would be getting them is to get something new...I'm addicted to power so even tho NA is fun that goal to 650awhp is funner .....the turbo is the perfect car for that...

That's pretty much how I felt as well -- though the 458 in my opinion would be closer to owning a GT3... just don't think it's really worth the extra ~$80k for the sound/badge. I'd probably buy a spider anyway if I went the 458 route. Turbo/GT3RS/458 Spider. Yes please.

I think the op touched on the issue. With the gt3 you need to rev it over 5000 rpm. Just how practical is that? Same with the e90 m3, that's why I got rid of mine. Sure that is cool, but I found it virtually impossible to use that on the street. Great for the track, but so limiting on the street. The turbo is just so much more fun in the 0-40 range around town.

The turbo is addicting. As well as the sheer instant speed and violent delivery as you so well state, it gives you a feel of confidence too. The way the model has evolved since it was launched in 1974 is just not found with any other model. The staggering beauty of the turbo in my opinion is untouched. I get chills in my spine when I launch the car and take it through it's paces. it is simply epic

997.1 tt 458 997.2tt at the my mechanic and local Porsche experts shop says that car on the left will run with the 458 but the one on the right will destroy it. While i dont know about that...BUT
The 458 is sexy but there is something different about a porsche

If it was up to my wife we would have as many 911s as possible. She is addicted to them so I would never hear that statement from her. I actually had to stop her from buying a 911 50th Anniversary earlier in the year! Ad in fact this week she has been looking to buy a 991 GT3 this week f she can find one. I guess that is a good problem to have if that can be considered a problem! :-)

I have been asked if I have to pick one which would it be... The reality is the GT3RS is in a league of it's own. It really is not far off a cup car. The price is going through the roof especially for the 4.0 and the 3.8 997 gen 2 is not far behind. I love both the turbo and the RS but once you drive an RS it will seduce you unlike any other 911. Again, I love the turbo and everything it does but if it came down to choosing one... It is the RS. Please don't make me do Sophie's choice! I didn't like that film!

I could not agree more. I also come from an E92 M3 (V8 DCT) and FWIW the M3 was a spectacular machine (8 individual throttle bodies, exhaust), it made me smile all the time when the tach swings north of 6K, the engine response at high revs was addicting. But doing so meant hooning around, just couldn't do that everyday.

The turbo is a better road car by far, and this is coming from an ex GT3 RS owner.
However, the GT3 RS is a much better track car.

It all depends on your needs, there is not one right answer imo !

Remembering my late cousin's 996 GT3, it was a beast up top, felt really raw, and the clutch pedal was intense, I couldn't imagine it being a DD. I'm turbo biased but I recently spotted a black on black 991 GT3 and couldn't stop gawking at it.

The way the turbo engines build torque feels a lot "faster" to the butt dyno generally than a normally aspirated engine as well. The instant throttle response of a NA engine is very appealing to the track driver, but the quick build up of acceleration in the turbo cars is more fun on the street in my opinion. Unless you're apexing corners on the street and getting complaints from your neighbors about your driving in your neighborhood you are probably going to enjoy a turbo over a GT3.
