So is there a calculation for hp-to-mph???

For instance I did 144.60 mph at 480hp/460tq

Enzo 997 did 196 at 1200hp

UG Lambo did 233 at 2000hp

So if I build to 600hp...how fast should i expect to go in the 1/2 mile (all other conditions consistent)...just wondering

I know there are formulas that help calculate this but I am not aware of a quick calculator for the 1/2 length. I would use the 1/4mi calculators and tack on an additional 20mph, which is what I was seeing at the event. Of course, the more hp, the more mph you gain up top. I was using my experience from drag racing to calculate some of the times based on mods and estimated hp and was pretty spot on with the +20mph to the 1/4 guesses.

I would guess you would be in the 155-160mph range with 600whp.

600 crank or 600 wheel?

600 crank HP should be good for maybe 156-158 mph.

I did 167 mph in the half mile last time at shift sector and I figured it was around 560-580 wheel HP on pump tune 20psi with race gas. Now that I'm running 24psi and maybe 650 wheel I'll see what I can do but estimate 172-174mph. So 600 wheel would be a tick under 170mph.

The info above is for a PDK or auto trans. 6MT might be a little slower due to shifts.

Something doesn't add up. 167mph doesnt equal 580whp. Should be more like 700whp. I think this was proven by how many 911's ran that trap aka not many at WannaGoFast. Maybe you have more power than you believe or the speedo was inaccurate at the event.

Shift Sector uses two timing lights like a drag strip so the 1/2 mile speed is averaged between two points maybe 50 feet from each other. The other 1/2 mile event from OmegaMotorsports doesn't seem to have a lot of success with their timing/speed system.

There are shops that attend Shift Sector events and other 1/2 mile events. Not sure if they are here and know if Shift Sector runs higher traps or not. Who knows maybe it's the ATCO of 1/2 mile racing

Some other members here like Yumaverick might have some insight. He used to trap mid 170's with his switzer E911 kit.

EDIT: Shift Sector does run a little faster because Coalinga Airstrip has a slight negative slope of somewhere in the -0.6 to -0.8 from what I remember. So not apples to oranges to other 1/2 mile events sorry for the confusion.

996 tt here and ran 159.2 at 650 rwhp the calcs we saw at multiple events was 30 mph added to the 1/4 mile trap speed. above 1000 rwhp nets 50 hp over the 1/4 trap

i trap 130 in the 1/4 on a regular basis. add 30 and you see 161 mighty close to my actual trap at the 1/2

Thanks everyone for your input.

So if I am reading this correct as I build my car, I should go do 1/4 mile (speed) and then I can assume from that 20-30 mph faster than in the 1/4 mile for the 1/2 mile???

to a point. some of the mega build cars have seen 50 mph increase from 1/4 to 1/2. 30 mph increase is a good # to reach for while your building your car
