New Tune thread: EPL Vs Cobb Vs FVD Vs GIAC or SOME others
Excuse me for asking a related question - hopefully not thread jacking, but this is the most active thread about tunes and all the tuners are reading it.
I'm about to purchase a 997.1TT and will pretty quickly add a tune to it, and considering cars with and without sports chrono (SC), and wondering what the different tuners do for a car with and without SC. I assume a tune on a non SC car will be the equal of a tune on a car with SC with sports button active perhaps with the SC car offering some differences in throttle response with sport on/off?
Can the tuners elaborate how they treat SC and non SC cars? Basically I have 2 cars in mind, one with SC the other without, and prefer the non SC car if the non SC car (with flash) will be just as responsive & powerful as the SC car (also with a flash).

Get the car WITH SC! If you have any doubts search for a user named Gary Chios and see all the problems he is having because he didn't get a SC car.
Also when it comes time to sell, the SC car will be much more sellable

isn't that a 997.2? What problems is he having?

1. No launch control
2. His car is .5-.6 maybe more in the quarter behind where it should be (could be from no LC)
3. His car is down about 5mph in the 1/4 from where it should be (launch control will have no impact on this one)

Great thread and honestly this mapping stuff looks to me like its superficial. I have an FVD tune and now I am wondering if just to undo it and put my stuff back to normal. I guess I burned money unnecessarily. That sucks for me. Live and learn I guess. Originally I said to myself I would never do any of that "snake oil' crap. I feel screwed.
Why would you want to put it back to normal?

Well, I guess it sucks in the sense that the FVD tune is an OTS tune for your car, but FVD does provide fine tuning as well. You just need to contact them. I would think that even an OTS tune is still better than OEM performance; especially coming from a reputable company like FVD.
How do you figure? No one said one single bad thing about FVD. Not one. Someone said he is unable to see the code.
If you have any info on the FVD tune. The one I was going to buy when i started the thread. I know a lot of people would like to know about it.

Al nunez- are you saying you don't feel the difference vs stock after the FVD tune? Have you used the "Genie" FVD provides to swap between stock & modified files & compare the difference.
FVD has a great reputation on all things Porsche. I'm guessing their OTS tune is a conservative tune but with noticeable performance increases over stock.

Don't know anything about it. Just the file I uploaded was about 512kb and the new one was 512kb. Just from the little that I know about this, not much changed. Just moving blocks of data to different positions. I am assuming it's similar to moving my furniture around the house and thinking I have new space.

Al, I'm going to use that quote about moving furniture around for more space. That's funny but, makes sense.
I don't program vehicles but, a 0 changed to a value of 1 can usually do a lot without changing the actual file size.
Does your car not run or feel any faster after the flash?
