Is there an American car faster than a 997.1TT stock?
Agree on the 997.1's but the porsche is 8 years older than these cars. The PDK is going to make it harder for all but the C7 Z06. Which i havent seen on the road yet. Lets be honest the z06 was built to have a "production car" Word is there will be a more reasonable grandsport type car, for those that dont want power oversteer at 80+
I decided to post not because of this current topic, but because your notorious around here for not really contributing much at all, and resulting to personal insults to people when they don't agree with you.
Don't be mad, be happy

Notorious among who? you poor little manual fans? from the positive PMs i get a couple from which actually drive these cars on a track, and from some tuners. I don't put much stock into your whines. You hate me because I tell you that your manual is slower an always will be than a "slushbox" You should try to be happy. So what you like a 6spd, just enjoy it, so what a slushbox beats it.
And what exactly have you ever contributed.... except to follow the crowd of internet toughguys trying to insist facts are not facts because you have a bunch of morons that agree with you.
There may be a select few brand new models that have updated technology...that MAY beat some of the 997.1 TT. I seriously doubt anything will touch a 997.2 TTS with PDK in a straight line (stock). And then with a few simple mods on the 997.1 TT...Again...Good luck beating them straight line.
American car companies seem to be waking up lately, and have some impressive offerings. But these Porsche 997 TT's are just awesome cars/beasts, and not much can touch them...and if it does, you slap a few mods on, and gone again!
Wonderful cars.

Apparently the Telsa P85D is quite formidable off the line. This area is swarming with Teslas but I think I just saw my first P85D the other day.
Most/all American muscle car stuff is RWD and front weight-biased so would have a severe traction disadvantage vs. a 997TT, or really, against any 911. And the monster AWD vehicles like the Grand Cherokee SRT are waaaaay heavy.

Funny you mention the Tesla P85 S. I cheekily nipped by one the other day at roundabout moving on to a very fast highway from rolling start at about 20-30mph and gunned it on to the highway. He kept up much closer to me than I expected lol and I have 26-27 sec 0-300kph turbo. I was very impressed with its initial surge but left him for dead in the end much to his annoyance - he flashed me angrily when he realised he wasn't even in the same picture lol
Had to be fun...DC

It was funny dude. I was shocked how I only slowly pulled away from him to begin with. Above 70mph I reckon he was shaking his arms at the steering wheel in his mobile toaster lol.
They're so cheap here though. Only £50,000 which is unbelievable cheap for that type of cutting edge tech. It looked as heavy as a battleship when I snuck by him at the roundabout so it must have quite a few horses to have hung on to me like that for first 100 meters!!!!

...Yeah. You actually have to watch those electric motors from a dig....If they have enough HP to move the object, they pretty much have infinite torque...But as you said...after that runs out...You have them!

I think it will be very interesting to see what happens with the dual electric combustion engine sports car market over the next 5 years. The NSX will be available soon starting at $155k. Imagine what we'll be talking about in 5 years?!?!
I'll have plenty of fun in my modded 997.2 TTS until then!
It definitely depends whether we are talking on street or track and manual vs automatic neither of which did the OP state. He did state 997.1.
Like has been said if its manual i think lots of stuff. If auto few things. On the street it definitely helps the 997 on track rwd less of a deal.
My Jeep SRT will beat most cars to 60 on the street due to traction alone (including my 997 since it is a manual and i dont abuse it). The only ones beating my jeep are those with REALLY good drivers or those in awd autos and/or good launch control (gtr, 997.2tt, c7, hellcat ect)
