What's the best launch of a 997 turbo?

Hi All,

Sorry as it maybe a silly question but can I know how to get a best ET or rather how do I really get a good launch on this car? How exactly do I launch this car? Step on the gas with the brake paddle on then let go the brake when I'm ready? Lol....

I just got my 997 turbo about 3mths plus with quite a fair bit of mod parts.

Stock engine
522whp on 1.7bar
Syvces standalone
ESMOTOR Tiptronic
Gtx3076 turbo
ID 1000cc injector
E85 SENSOR
Custom Open Port Intake
1 Range colder spark plugs
Snow performance melt kit
IPD Y pipe & 82mm throttle body
Larger intercooler
265/40/18 front & 335/35/18 rear
BC forge Rim
100-200kmh at 5.95sec
1/4 mile at 11.4sec :(

on my 997.2 S version: Sport Plus on, PASM off--or on--, foot on brake, WOT to approx 5500 rpm where it plateaus, then foot off the brake. Hold on.

I hate to bench race, but I was also confused as I thought this would be around 700awhp.

But I too would like to know the sweet spot to launching with 3076's.

I can do this on my manual, too, with Cobb... but it takes a bit more finesse. Afraid things will snap.

Try the search function on the site. It works great!

In General - Launching/Power Braking is not ideal for the Tip's, but supposedly Emre's are solid....so read and do at your own risk.

Check post #5 at the link below...By the very person that built your Tiptronic per your post.

Porsche says in order to launch the Tip you brake boost it. Of course on a high HP car I would agree with DC

Thanks so much for all the advices, will try it out.....

As for 522whp, is was on a dynamic dyno. I got my f13 M6 stock measure at 530whp on the same dyno. (stock 560hp)

Hi Prodigymb, which part do u think may have gone wrong? I'm also expecting about close to 700whp....

Or can I measure as of 522x20% wheel lost to 626hp?

Actually, I think the thought was you would be close to 700 ALL WHEEL HP., so the ~20% would be in addition to that if you are talking BHP!

At least that is what was posted above...

Hi Andy,
Yes you might dyno about 700whp with you setup @1,7Bar.
I rarely launch my 6Spd 997.1 but no need to rev above 3000rpm or I stay in the smoke of my 4 wheels with a similar setup...

PS: I lived some time @M21condo Mandalay road close to Tan tock Seng hospital, nice place SGP!

Ok, lol:cool:
And I will pay a Din Tai Fung lunch!

In waiting and about your 522whp you might see with Emre, regarding your setup he will improve your power easily and your 1/4 mile time will follow...
But let's keep in mind the AT is always pretty high in SGP, not helps turbo engines to give their best and perhap's that's a part of the reason.
