Good question I have a Tip also and would like to know. I'm pretty sure Power-Braking is the only way. If that's the case I'm out $15 G's for a new Tranny NO thanks!!!

No launch control on your cars. You can brake boost, but not a great idea, as you will eventually toast your Tip.

Hello,

Turn on Sport mode, PSM OFF.

FULLY press brake pedal and then kick throttle pedal quickly.

You will see "Overboost arrow" in the instrument cluster. It means the car is in launch mode.

Its not an official "Launch mode" but its the correct way of launching.

wait till boost pressure goes up to 0.3 - 0.4 bar then take your foot off the brake.

It will launch perfectly if you tires are in good condition

Cheers,
Emre

With stock power I launched my car countless times without seeing any leaks or slippage of the trans. Only when I added my modded VTG turbos is when I started seeing the abuse the launch was doing to my trans. Sometimes if theres no need to launch hard but still get off the line I keep my foot on gas and brake still just to keep revs up not necessarily push the boost through from a stop. Its a way to eliminate SOME Lag from a dig.

The real fun comes when you mod the trans, Built Transmissions hold the power like no other.. Tony @ EPL was able to add brake boosting from rolling speeds to my tune., where before traction control would eliminate that from happening.. I have been beating on it and not worrying about it for the last 20k miles also .)

I agree with all on the way to launch it. But be warned, at some point, you will have the dreaded "seal leak" from the tip trans. Mine was replaced under warranty but I was told it would have been $15K otherwise. Which really sucks because all of the press releases and reviews of the 07-08 tips, both from Porsche and from car mags, discuss brake boosting to get those 3.3 0-60 times. The problem is that you're only as strong as your weakest link and in these cars, that appears to be a small rubber seal that requires the whole transmission to be replaced.

Does Tony have a TCU upgrade software option for the 997tt?
