^ Nice one Adam! Never thought of that. Guys never run ore than 2/3 gallons because it burns faster and the car won't be able to adjust much past that.

I tested it on the dyno and while it generally produced slightly higher AFRs since higher ethanol will do that, it was still generally safe in the upper RPMs where fuel systems are taxed. Plus now I've been doing it for 6 months so that's even better data right there. While this is on my BMW and not Porsche, all modern ECU's can deal with up to 30% ethanol since some countries like Brazil have higher ethanol contents in their pump gas.

Only issue is that there is no e85 pump anywhere near me so I just fill up a couple 5 gallon jugs when I go down to surf in San Diego as there's a station just off the 5 in Carlsbad. That lasts 6 fill ups which is about a month.

I have a two-car mancave detached from the house where I kept my race car. My turbo will go there now. It sees little activity. I've been storing 55 gl drums of race fuel out there for 8 years. Never gave it a seconds thought. I also have at least 10 pounds of misc reloading gunpowder in there too

Has anyone done any research on effects of using E85. I know that the flex fuel cars marketed by US manufacturers have engine mods to accommodate any corrosive issues with the E85 - but I see a lot of folks running E85 in Porsches and was just wondering if any issues yet.

E85 is pretty popular actually. I run both 91 and E85 on my vehicle. Less gas mileage on the E85 map, but it sure does run cooler and gives me tons of more ponies!

Well, it's not the best kind of experiment, but in Hawaii, where we have access to E100 (and I did run that in my S/C C2S for > 2 yrs) the guy who provides this fuel dropped in various plastic hoses from a car that he had, along with nuts/bolts and parts of fuel line into a jar with E100. These parts have been in the jar for 5 yrs. No evidence of corrosion or defects in the plastics or steel bolts thus far.

We make OTS maps for use with E85. It is a great fuel and have not seen any issue in the 997, and there are guys that have been running for awhile with no issue. Works really well!

997.2 TTS is infamous around these parts
I guess we're lucky as we have 93 octane at all stations in Georgia.

The Alliance indy station across the 101 fwy still has pump 100 around $9/gal though. I don't need it for my TT which is fine on 91 using the Cobb OTS AZ/CA 91 map.
You're correct. I went there today and the pump is gone. Man, time flies.

B) Keep a can of 100 octane at home and mix it in with 91
C) Just fill with 91

Thanks in advance.
You should have E85 at most stations in Cali. Blending to about E20 levels should be fine on a stock tuned car. I'd suggest getting a Cobb Accessport and loading either an OTS 91 map made for poor quality ACN (Arizona, California, Nevada) 91 and possibly getting a custom tune to get the most out of it.

E85 works really really well on the 997.1 Turbos. To get the most out of it though you should just swap some ID1000 injectors for additional flow volume and you're set.

Thank you KRS Distributing. Five minutes ago my octane problem was solved.

I'm surprised more of you don't do this. 3gl of 104 octane to 12gl of 91 equals 93.6 octane. At the current Chevron 91 price, it works out to $5.17 per gallon for the mix. For those of you running CA crap gas, this really wakes these cars up…Especially if you have a 93 oct ECU flash.

I used to mix until I quickly realized that I do 70% hwy so the cost did not warrant the extra fun. Yes, with higher octane, the car was more alive.

No kidding. I call Kevin yesterday and 24 hours later he comes to my house and drops it off. How easy is that?
