Rear LED lights DOT approved?
Rear LED lights DOT approved?
Hi All,
About to pull the trigger on a set of rear LED lights the 3 most popular appear to be Depo, Dectane and ones by delray autosound. By chance, would anyone know they they are approved for street use? I've looked online and cannot find such details.
Concerned from an insurance point of view. I know it would depend on the insurance company, but can they deny coverage if you are using lights which are not approved?

Jako,
Since these are produced outside of the US/Canada they are EMark approved for Euro Standards. Do not think they have or will seek DOT certification? Two of the 3 listed
are Depo (Depo and Dectane - Dectane sells and markets Depo FYI). The DelRay versions are the RotTec versions and the less preferable of the two.
On the Insurance question, there are tons of variables there, but would think it would be difficult to deny a claim based on those lights. While they are aftermarket, the company also makes many OEM solutions, so you should be fine. No guarantee, but just my opinion on the subject.
Good luck!

No in my Pcar but in other cars I have run into trouble with warning lights displaying in the dash when converting to higher power LED lights. I even fried a harness in the Jeep moving to 5000K bulbs. Procede with caution and check the vendor with others who have no issue on the same year car as you.
Trying to save you a mess I had to wade through. Its no secrete I am Mod adverse as I have tried many times (with good quality manufacturers and certified dealers) only to get bit ion the backside and being forced to return the car to stock for reliability reasons.
HKS full on system on a Supra Turbo. Dinnan Chip sets in a M3 and Cree Bulbs and resistors in a Jeep.
I'm done.
I am just some with all that at this point.
