This issue we celebrate the ‘widow maker’ 911 GT2 after Porsche exclusively confirmed to us that there’s no plans in place for a new 991 variant

Little by little, VW destroys Porsche. But then again GT2 with a PDK?

 

RIP GT2, one of my favorite cars of all time.

 

Icon for sure. A GT2 with a PDK that's able to hold 1000ft-lbs and an 8k redline...now that'd be quite special

I tried to make a GT2-equivalent 997.2 but with AWD and PDK. BBI did the suspension build using Ohlins coils with some other bits to keep the rear end planted and the front end stuck to the ground. Plus with better tires (R888's) and power mods to get well above 700 HP. Next step is Alcantara and carbon fiber interior. It will never be a GT2 but the track performance is up there with the McLaren 650 and 458 Speciale. Probably where the stock GT2 would be if Porsche made one.

 

These things have a way sorting themselves out...if there's enough demand for it, the GT2 will return!

It appears reports of the Porsche 911 GT2’s demise have been greatly exaggerated, as a senior executive at the German sports car manufacturer has confirmed that a new one is in fact in the works. The information comes from Andreas Preuninger, the man in charge of development of Porsche’s high-performance models. He recently spoke with British publication Autocar.
