That might be the case - I am keeping a close eye out for it as this has happened the last 2 times I left the car sit for 4-5 weeks.

Same thing with Porsches. Even if you cut the fuel pump, the rail would still hold enough fuel to fire the engine (and then die shortly thereafter).

Whenever I changed the oil on my 996TT, I would pull the fuel pump fuse, start the car and let it run out of fuel on its own. Then change the oil, crank the motor for awhile to build oil pressure, then replace the fuse and drive as normal.
