No. When we do the 65 and 68mm upgrades, we change the entire compressor housing to our billet housing. A 68mm wheel in the stock housing would be really inefficient and generate too much heat.

Is someone able to give more detail on how to check over the turbo to assess its current status?

I found a few videos on youtube that go through checking a turbo. Just look up how to inspect a turbo and you will get a bunch of videos. Basically if there is a lot of play it could use rebuilding.

Hey guys, if anyone is looking for stock VTG's I have mine for sale after upgrading to Champions 68mm ones.
They have 103k km on them but in perfect working order, no shaft play or damage (internal or external).
