Possible new 997 owner questions please

Hey guys. Currently have an aston martin V8 vantage. was looking at the 911 turbo. trying to stay in the 80-90 range. just wanted to know some pointers to look at in these cars. I like the turbo for the quickness, and looks. just wanted to know your guys thoughts about buying a preowned one. miles to stay under? maintence cost? etc. been looking at 2007-2010 years. I have found one relatively close to me. thoughts?

Hi, The Vantage is a nice car. That 997 you found looks to be a nice one and at a good price. You have a few things to go over and consider because there are the 997.1 and .2 cars. Generally these cars are great and quite strong/reliable. You can have a lot of fun and also use it daily. Get ready for a huge kick in power too. I bet you will be a Porsche head after the switch. Feel free to give me a buzz if I can help explain details and features. Easier and faster. I type with my two fingers!

Looks like a nice car, plugs and belt came eary-must have been by age not mileage. You can't beat a CPO'ed car. Go for it.

RugRunner is infamous around these parts
When I lived in Kentucky, at least at that time, that dealer would pick up the tab for a DE (at least for PCA guys) if you bought a car there.

OP, I just went through this process. I was zeroed in on 997.1 cars because I wanted a Mezger but I was looking at <15k mile cars pretty exclusively which narrowed the search considerably. Even with a CPO car I would want to see the DME report on a 6MT car, personally I didn't care about a few range 1 or 2s but be wary above 3, this isn't much of a concern on a PDK as there isn't much opportunity to zing it based on my understanding.

With a dark color I would also want whoever ends up doing the PPI to put a paint meter on it. You never know, some guys get pretty rambunctious with the orbital. I ended up buying an atlas grey car and in the sunlight it is stunning, little bits of blue show up in the right light.

If you are going to track it all you probably want the big red brakes. The PCCB's (yellow) cost a fortune if you wear them out, 16k for rotors I believe. My car has PCCB but I just use it for weekend cruises and occasional 3-4 gear pulls. Take your time and have fun searching.

thanks guys for the replies. I know the Porsche bran overall has a ton of different models and options, its quite the learning experience. I have been told by a few to wait and by a 991, but I feel that may be out of the price range for awhile.

that is a rare color for a 997.2 Turbo, what i want for my next Turbo...unfortunately $90K is out of my range...for now. I like the PCCB on my Atlas Grey C2S...squeaky at time but stop on the dime and no brake dust.

Good luck with your search...
