LED Tail lights on Turbo

Hi all, there is a lot of confusing information out there about LED tail lights for 997.1 Turbo because of a potential error code that the car can show with the LEDs. I've done some research and ended up buying these lights.

Note the cheapest option, but quick and easy install, no error codes and they look awesome!!! It appears that the lights have resistors built in (big black boxes on the lights) - that explains absence of errors.

Hope that will safe some of the folks here some time.

- Nick

Those are the Depo/Dectane lights, and what most on these forums have. I have had mine for some time and thankfully no issues. I think the key has been to be sure to use the resistor packs as directed.

Thanks for posting Nick. I have the early Depo's on my 07 and have the error codes. I tried installing the aftermarket resistors but no luck. I'm tempted to pull the trigger again and give the newer version a shot. Enjoy they look great on our cars.

I have newer Dectane and they are great. Never an error. Have them on a turbo and a C4S with no issues ever.

I had Depo LEDs on my turbo for a while too. They look to be well made and they worked without any problems. I ended up removing them simply because I didn't like the way they looked, but I have no problem with the product. I would recommend them to anybody who is buying LEDs for their 997.1.

I ended up buying the Spyder units which are actually made by XTune Power. They were ~$360 on Fleabay for the smoke red units. No resistors, No errors, very good fitment. I did put a little piece of electrical tape one of the driver's side fog bulb terminals.

The lenses are a bit darker than I expected but looks great with the brake lights on. I've had them for about a month now. If anyone has regular red (no clear, not smoke) Spyder tails with dead LEDs or anything, let me know as I might want it for parts.

I considered the DEPO/Dectane lights as well but the price point was different enough that I figured I'd try the cheapies first. So far all is great.
