Alcantara lower dash
Finished product - kind of....
Will add a GT2RS shift boot/**** and recovered steering wheel (mix of leather and alcantara with red stripe), and floormats with red piping in early 2016. Also, I removed the chrono pod and tried to wrap it in alcantara but it really needs a seam/stitching, so I ditched the idea. Good think I covered my factory pod in masking tape before applying glue -- was able to revert back to stock with no carnage!
PS -- porsche alcantara is a real tough match. The headliner is slightly darker than other OEM bits (shift boot, seats, etc.) and although Alcantara 9052 is the closest match, it still is not 100% -- more like 95%. See what I mean?

Phenomenal right up! Contemplating giving this a try myself, just purchased a glove box & drivers side lower dash off eBay.. Was going to have a shop do it for me but after reading your thread it doesn't look extremely difficult. Question, did you remove the factory leather before recovering?
Also you mentioned two different shades of alcantara, one lighter then the other.. I was thinking of doing my A-pillars as well, you said the material used on the glove box was lighter then the headliner. Do you think the other choice that was darker would match better since the pillars are up against the headliner?
Thanks in advance for any help!

Good for you -- yes, it isn't difficult at all -- just time consuming. Follow my directions and you will be all smiles when completed.
In my case, I purchased a second hand glovebox and driver's side lower dash area. Both were non-leather and all I did was clean them thoroughly with isopropyl alcohol before applying the adhesive and fabric. For my armrest lid, I applied masking tape first to protect the leather in case I wanted to revert back. To get to your question though -- you don't need to remove the leather if you don't want. Just get it real clean so the adhesive can stick well.
Regarding color, I ordered several sample pieces before deciding on 9052. 9002 is another option, and probably closer to the headliner. I suggest you order some sample pieces and come to your own conclusion. You can order samples for $0.50 a piece from JPM Coachworks. I bought 3 samples (9002, 9040, and 9052) for like $4.50 shipped last fall -- back then the samples were only $0.25 each and shipping was like $3.75. I misplaced them but if I can find my samples again, I'll do a re-check against the headliner. I did it against my seats and 9052 was the closest match. Just make sure to look at it in very bright light (preferably outside on a sunny day) because you won't be able to pickup small differences otherwise.

Finally, on the A-pillars..just realize that you need a decent amount of fabric to cover these. The curvature and length of these mean you need a yard just for these pieces, and then a yard for all the lower dash. Well, if you are efficient you only need 1/2 yard for the lower dash but they typically sell it in yard portions only. In addition, as you suspected, you are going to want the color match to be 100% with the headliner or else it will bother you (if you are really detail oriented, that is)!
Best of luck! PM me or post here with any questions and make sure to share your results with the forum.
